  • Hi dearlouise,

Sorry to hear about your traumatic time lately, I've recently split up with a long term partner although we didn't live together. I found his mood was pulling me down and with all the debt I needed someone to make me happy not sad. So I've cut my losses, ended the relationship and have decided to concentrate on me and my kids for a while.

It's good your mum is so understanding about the debt, my mum doesn't know about mine, she'd be absolutely furious if she knew so at the moment it's my secret.

Good luck for Tuesday, hope you have some fun x

Thought I'd have a look and see if you've a diary after you found mine - and here you are.

Good news about the summer job, should help you to make a dent in the debt.

I agree with dtbdf, it's great to have such a supportive parent, mine know about my debt but not how much, thankfully mine is relatively small amount compared to alot of people so a few months working and living with my Dad should get it cleared, or it'll get cleared much slower if I move out again!

An ok week. Haven't spent a lot at all... My comedy evening was a cheap affair. I did spend some money in screwfix on bits to repair the workshop in my garden, also at hobbycraft to make some blinds to keep the sun from overheating the workshop where the cats are living. Store bought blinds were just too expensive.

I've made £37 on eBay this week selling 2 items I no longer use.

I got a letter today from HSBC saying they were going to increase my credit limit by £1,500. I swiftly phoned them and declined! However it's a good sign they were willing to increase the limit (re: my credit score).

Since it's June, I figure it's a good time to re-evaluate the debt situation.

    HSBC CC £2,900 -- now £1660
    HSBC overdraft £2,000 -- still £2000
    Post Office CC £5,200 -- now £4550
    Barclays CC £11,300 -- now £11200

    EX HUSBAND CC £10,000 -- now £8600

    TOTAL DEBT - £31,400 -- now £28,010

It's not as good as I'd like it to be but it's a start! :D

I need to get motivated with eBaying again, also start matched betting. I need to do so moms PPI claims and also think about suing the Coal Board for negligence re: breaking my ankle on their property last year.

Started matching betting on Sunday, well, reading up & re-learning while in bed feeling poorly. Actually placed some bets on Monday & this week. Have made £66 so far. Will do a proper tally on Monday after a full week.

Have £10 of bids in on eBay and lots of blank listings to fill - as I was too ill to sit and photograph & list earlier in the week. That's tomorrow night's task.

Last night & tonight I've spent doing some more work on the garage doing some repairs. Hacking off loose render and filling rotten windows... Will continue this weekend.

have just read all your diary.

Sorry to hear of such a harsh breakdown with your previous relationship.

Your debt journey is going so well and hopefully the time that you are living with your Mum will give you the opportunity to make a big dent in it.

Congrats on the summer job that too will help with the dent.

Hi DearLouise! Found you! I had already subscribed so will now keep up to date with your progress and we can encourage each other on our DF journeys! You're almost at a number change down, from £28k to £27,xxx - for some reason I LOVE when I get down another number, its a little motivation boost! I'm a sad individual I know!

Good luck with the matched betting, I think you can do okay from that if you're careful and you know what your doing. I did it a while back and then got side tracked with Uni work and packed it in. Should be a good time to do it just now with all the world cup games though?

With your credit score obviously getting better, would it be worth looking at a 0% card to transfer some of your debt to? We've done that so all of ours is now 0% (in hubbys name because of my poor credit), but at least that way what you would pay to your debt doesn't get eaten by interest.

Speak soon, and keep your chin up!

That's amazing - well done you for planning that, and getting paid double over the summer. Don't forget to check these boards very often and keep on the MSE path so, just because you earn more, don't forget to cut spending whenever you can!

Go for it - and well done. Don't get too exhausted.
