I've had a 32" flat screen LCD TV since 2009, and thus far (touch wood) there hasn't been a single fault with it, the tube TV I had prior to it I had for over ten years and it was perfectly serviceable when I got rid of it.

Technology can last as long as you don't abuse it.

Neither of which are LED. You don't need to abuse technology for it to fail.

seriously, has anyone noticed that the standard excuse for not working is 'depression'.....it really is easy to just opt out of life when it gets tough by pulling this standard crap out of the bag......if only we could all do it eh?

Yes I noticed that and thought perhaps there was a misunderstanding with the way (most) renting works over here. Seemed to me that they expected the gas/elec to be included in the rent as they constantly blamed the LL for not providing these things.

That was the impression I got too.

Perhaps in Romania the utilities are included with the rent. In which case those coming here to need to be more aware that the position is different here. Could put them off of coming ...

It didn't help that the only person in the household who could speak any English was a school boy

I am always puzzled by a couple who eat all their meals together, yet he looks like he enjoys his food and she looks malnourished.

It did not seem to dawn on her at all that she could be the one to go out to work.

I thought she was probably the most employable of the two. He seemed pleasant enough but appeared to have some learning difficulties.

Yes, the house was dirty and squalid but the children were loved. With a bit of guidance their parenting skills could be improved. I thought the Social Worker pestering them about the little boy's use of a dummy was inappropriate and nitpicking.

Re - the above comments about the medical profession and mucky houses.

I once worked for a Lettings Agency, the boss of which always advised the owners never to let out their houses to Dr's and Nurses. I asked him why. He said because in his experience most (but not all) "Lived like pigs".

    …….his words, not mine……

I expressed disbelief but he explained that after 40 years in the business that was his experience.

I spent 10 years clinically depressed and on anti-depressants due to PTSD.

    It didn't stop me working.
