I purchased with carphone warehouse and told them they said this isn't correct it is one year and I was over that.
According to Regulation 5(4)(k) of the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008, if it is telling you that you have no rights after the warranty has expired, it is committing an offence under Regulation 9 punishable under Regulation 13 by a fine and/or up to two years' imprisonment.
They also said that they had seen this law that apple emailed me about the 6 years warranty and in the fineprint it says something about this only applies if they consumer (carphone warehouse) sent you the phone with faults already and so I reread this and it did actually say this.
A defect concerning durability by its nature is present at the time of supply but doesn't manifest itself until later, perhaps months or years later. This is covered by Section 18(3)(e) of the Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982.

Is there a chance a Vodafone Rep could help me out with this?
I've found myself in exactly the same position today after a visit to the Apple store my 18mth old 4S has a faulty wifi chip (hardware issue).
I have a printout from the Genius Bar stating that the customer is eligible for EU consumer law replacement from point of purchase (in this instance Vodafone). Device in good condition with no evidence of liquid or tampering...

I can't put finger on when the wifi went conky, is this proven to be related to a particular software update or is this just a coincidence?

Thanks in advance to anyone that can point me in the right direction with this!

  • Update - Well after chatting online for over an hour on two occasions, numerous phonecalls etc Vodafone backed down and extended my I phone 4s Apple Warranty for another year and replaced my phone for a new one free of charge. If i hadn't been relentless i don't think they would have agreed, I was absolutely disgusted that it came to this me having to keep at them. I don't think i will be returning to Vodafone after this contract
  • Good effort, but don't expect any of the other providers to be any different. It sucks for us innocent folk but, sadly, there are too many shysters out there trying it on so companies have to be extra vigilant.
