Just back from another shopping trip. Didn't have too much to buy foodwise, although have stocked up with some washing powder (Mr M's) and dishwasher tabs (A*da) but they come from a separate budget.

Spent £7 on food plus £6.47 in butchers. Have added to total in signature.

  • Had to stock up this weekend at waitrose and aldi and ended up buying fillet steak piece and some lamb shoulder which was 50% off - it didn't go as far as I thought but was very tasty - kids will have the leftovers today made into a shepherds pie (DH and I may have some if there is enough!)

Bought lots of fresh berries fruit and salad which was quite expensive but needed a change from apples.

Pretty stocked up now with some meat in the freezer so should be OK for 10 days but I realise I have spent nearly half my monthly budget.

I am finding it a challenge to make meals which the whole family enjoy - maybe its just the ages by kids are (9 and 12) and they just like to whinge - they actually eat everything they are given but I find it hard when they are not as enthusiastic as me about homecooked meals made from scratch

Off to read through the posts and look for inspiration

Went shopping today as planned and spent £15.11 in Aldo on fresh bits such as bread, milk, fruit, yogurts etc. Total grocery spends so far come to £118.02 at day 12/28. I'm pretty pleased with this. I'm hoping to spend around £10/15 per week for the next couple of weeks too. I still have some meat in the freezer but not much, so I'm going to try to avoid it as long as possible so that we have something tasty the last week of the month rather than the usual boring cheap end of month meals. With that in mind its egg, chips and beans for tea tonight :D
We didn't get back from our weekend away until late last night so DH treated us to take away pizza which was yummy and didn't come from the grocery budget so tasted even better :p.

First spends of the month: £31.41 in Mr T and £4 in Sains. Mostly food for this week, but a couple of items for store cupboard.
GC: £40 a week. Sticking to my budget, but never remembering to post in the relevant thread.
Probably buying toiletries that I don't need, as I can't resist a "bargain."

Spent £2.22 to get 3 pasta-in-a-mug meals for my trip this week, and got a free can of coke left over from a sponsored lunch today. Proud to have made it out the supermarket with only the things I went to buy! Especially since I was in there ages as ran into a friend.

    NSD - whoop :-)

Going to nip in to town on my lunch break tomorrow as last year after pancake day I got some premium batter mix packets and other bits super cheap (think pennies - I spent less than £2 and got a carrier bag full which i Split between our house, my parents and the in laws). I wouldn't usually bother with them but they are a handy stand by. Also was tempted to try the Boots baby wipes glitch but our store has no self service tills so may chicken out!
