NSD today yay!
Bf and his team mates have all had a nutrition/food choices lecture again but this one appears to have struck a different chord. Unexpected but nice - now to convince him he actually enjoys the extra fruit and veg more than crisps etc hehe.
Because of it though I need to adapt the meal plan I had for the next few days which means a small spend tomorrow on baking potatoes and baked beans :-)
Need cooker gets fitted in two days - very excited now with lots of new meal ideas!************************************

Did my Lidl shop today, bit pricier this week but added in a bottle of red and some Prosecco for Valentines Day - my first foray into their wine section so fingers crossed.
My budget now stands at £125.68/£200 remaining - but still got quite a list for Sainsburys tomorrow. We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.0 -

Oooh, I tend to sail past their booze section, too and didn't realise they had Prosecco - how much was it, can you remember?
Do please post your opinion on it, I think it makes a really nice special drink!31.5/1000 -

There are some pudding recipes online for quinoa, that are sort of like a rice pudding that I keep meaning to give a try - this one looks tasty!Baby broad beans and pistachios is a particular favourite; feta is also very nice- basically whatever you like. Add a very simple salad dressing when serving if you want to. It's filling and keeps well for lunch the next day

im very ill today, only going on school run so NSDI've been ill, and haven't eaten a full meal since my return on Thursday which has helped a little.
Hope you both feeling a bit better by now.
I just KNEW this would happen!! Go away on holiday for a month to try to miss some of the awful winter weather here in the frozen north and what happens - ?? Came back Thursday and it started to SNOW today :rotfl:
Had to get milk, bread, sugar and pack stuff today to Mr Al*i has £4.96 of my shrinking pennies.
Lovely dinner of lamb shepherds pie (freezer) with steamed Brussels, carrots and sweetheart cabbage. Made a bread and butter pudding with last of Ho*is from Saturday. I had forgotten how yummy it is - hot and smothered in plain yoghurt:
Hope you all staying safe and DRY

Hi all. Been MIA since end of last week, all due to a hectic weekend!
Friday we a got a small tax refund and so I have used that for a few non GC things. However, £50 of it I have used to buy a few of my staple items for my cupboards.....tins of toms, baked beans, tom puree, cling film, foil, cereal, yogurts, etc. Now, I am not going to count this in my GC! I know it sounds like cheating but I am just going to count myself lucky that we got a bonus!! I do the GC because that is all I can afford to spend, if I include this little bonus, it'll look like we really blew the budget!
I have been really OS / Frugal over the last few days! I made a mild chilli on Friday night but I held back a big chunk of mince & replaced it with red lentils. I then made burgers with the leftover mince which we had for dinner last night. I held one of those burgers back. Sunday we had family round for dinner. There was no meat left (booooo!) but a few veg. I have put enough parsnips in the freezer for four. I then held back the remainder of the veg & gravy. For dessert on Sunday I made a white chocolate & raspberry cheesecake (from all the leftover white chocolate from Christmas) & mincemeat tart (from a roll of pastry I found in the freezer & my leftover jar of mincemeat from Christmas).
Tonight I chopped up my leftover burger, broccoli, roast pots, parsnips & carrots & mixed them with a small amount of the LO gravy & some English mustard & wrapped them in some of the pastry LO from my mincemeat tart to make pasties! They look lovely & are for mine & DH's lunch tomorrow! Am looking forward to those! Kids will have YS sausage rolls (2 for 14p:j).

Another NSD, would normally do the main grocery shop for the week today, but am going to extend shopping day by at least one day each week until I only shop 3 times a month.
Tourists left refreshed and fed, hope they enjoy the rest of their trip.
There appear to be a lot of misconceptions about Freedom Camping, apparently tourists are being told that its fine to just park anywhere and sleepover, even when their vehicles are not self contained grrrr.
Boat is now ready for the weekend's great tuna hunt we just need the wind to drop and the fish to be hungry, surely that's not too much to ask.
Roast beef for dinner tonight, with all the usual veg, plus corn and peas from the gardens. Might try to make some Yorkshire puddings to go with it. Have never made them before, but the photos on here look so good.0 -
