NSD here again.
Yummy dinner tonight - whoops Chicken Wings in a HM Barbecue Sauce + HM Mashed Potato Cakes + baked beans. I had to substitute white wine vinegar for cider vinegar in the barbecue sauce but worked. The mashed potato cakes were a new recipe for me - made 8 of them for 80p. Total meal cost - £1 for the two of us.
I also had a go at another recipe - Devonshire Apple in and out pudding but I used Conference pears. Let you know tomorrow what it tastes like. Someone said - it is a war time recipe. Dish looks mucky - mixed in there.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Been and paid my meat order this morning...eeek! It came to £117.59! But I got
20 large chicken breasts
10lbs best stewing beef
6lbs steak mince
2lbs diced pork
5lbs best chipolatas
:T::T
I think thats really good. I roughly calculate that would do the two of us 58 meat meals, about £1 each per meal. I would be happy with that.

Haven't posted for a wee while... But still avidly reading & managing to keep up
I'm up to £112.21 / £200 for the month now.... But you can't get a gnats breath into the chest freezer thanks to all the Meat, veg & batch cooked meals in there! Really should only need milk, bread, loo roll, some fresh veg & OH's packed lunch stuff for rest of the month (& maybe a fair bit of next month too, if I'm careful). This is just as well as I'm practically out of physical cash (got around a tenner in purse), thanks to an unexpected expense  Good job I have some clubcard vouchers tucked away for emergencies ... Oh heck, forgot about cat food, one cat is currently on hunger strike refusing to eat anything but premium cat food packets... I swear he eats better than we do!0 -
A nsd for me as I've not left the house lol. Hubby went into town for some things for himself and bought washing up brushes. So I owe him a £1 for those.
I made laundry gloop and another recipe for hand / body wash. Really am pleased about how they've turned out. Already done 3 loads of washing and its all come out clean, stain free and smelling really fresh. The 5 litre tub of gloop came in at £2.35 ish.
Those wee pots above were the leftovers, I managed to fill a litre size glass pump dispenser with the handwash. It foams up a little and was fine with a bath scrunchie in the shower as a body gel. Really nice smell of rose water and lavender.
This could save a fortune :cool:0 -

I totally agree with you and stopped going last year - far too expensive for what you get.
Lost the quote but think it was MEG - loads of meat from butcher ? Gosh think that's really cheap. It would cost us at least double for that here  and last us ages. I only allow 8ozs of meat a day between the two of us and pad it out loads :rotfl:
Managed a NSD today as didn't go out. Made a cheese and onion quiche for tea with saut!ed potatoes, coleslaw and tomatoes. Made oxtail casserole and am leaving it in the S/C on low overnight. That will do nicely for Monday once I have sorted the meat from the bones, chilled and skimmed :T
Hope you all have a sunny Sunday

Thanks and to Lynne too, it was me talking about the meat
Now I've sat and had a think about the price....it is good! I don't know where either of you are but I'm in North Lincolnshire and the butcher I go to is one of the best in my local area. Although we are all friends, he doesn't do us any special prices for being friends IYKWIM !! I wouldn't like it if he did, he needs to make a living as well. I do buy the occasional bit of meat from Lidells, which we like.
It just seemed a lot of money when I handed the cash over. I think this Grocery Challenge is really doing me good and making me realise how much I'm spending:rotfl::rotfl:A family that eats together, stays together
