  • Been missing in action for some time but can report that grocery spend so far this month is £53.66. Not brilliant as have 10 days left to go and out of essentials. Think I have tried to cut down too much too soon and will have to give myself a little more leeway next month. Especially as my cupboards are just about empty now.

Been out early shopping and stocked up now for the week including a full tank of petrol. Spent £53.65 on food including all my fruit, veg, milk, eggs, bread, fresh meat etc for the week and petrol at £40.54. Total spend stands at: £233.39/ £280 so if I last all week and do a £40 shop next weekend I'll be within target.:D

Have a great day all. Now off to do my housework.:)

  • Good morning
Sorry haven't caught up on the thread for ages, so that's a job for tomorrow :)
Have done an online tesco shop to be delivered tomorrow, which should be around £60 inc delivery of £5, I'll update my sig properly once it's been delivered.
I've already added in school dinners for the kids next week, DS is off on a school residential trip for a couple of nights, so DD wanted dinners next week as he'll be living it up with cooked lunches :)
Have just made veg soup for lunch to use up a load of sad veg at the bottom of the fridge, then this afternoon we're off to see the lego movie & have dinner at pizza express all thanks to our clubcard vouchers :)
I'm still really pleased with how it's going this month, so fingers crossed we'll come in around the right amount, though half term could spoil that plan lol
Hope everyone has a good weekend xx

  • Quite a big spend today in aldi and wait rose and as the cupboards were bare had to get a big shop plus a few treats - as its half term next week I wanted to ensure we have meals ready and avoid any overspend. Did buy some nice fish for dinner in wait rose though and some aussie hair conditioner for dd and some toffee popcorn got sneaked in!!

Only 1 more big shop to do so hopefully as long as no splurging should be on track

Been and paid my meat order this morning...eeek! It came to £117.59! But I got
    20 large chicken breasts
    10lbs best stewing beef
    6lbs steak mince
    2lbs diced pork
    5lbs best chipolatas

The local butcher is excellent (and a friend) and his meat is all sorted on the premises not bought in packs and all local so we know what we are getting. It seems a lot of money to spend at once, but nothing is wasted and will last us a long time.

Another friend grows vegetables and delivers locally. He brought the veg box this morning, along with a couple more that pick their boxes up from me. He charges £6 a box which has 6 different types of veg in. This week there are a large cauliflower, 8 large dirty carrots, purple sprouting broccoli, large swede, 6 large dirty parsnips and a big head of broccoli. Ok it may not be organic, but his veg is so tasty, and locally grown again. The boxes vary depending on what he has ready that week. I get one every fortnight and it usually does us for the family Sunday and me and DH use what's left.

Popped into Lidells and picked up a couple of their red peppers and some other bits, so I'm going to be ok for this month with all the stuff I have in :T::T

    Hello

I'm getting through my budget pretty quickly this month so I won't have another As*a delivery, just buy as little as possible day to day. I haven't left myself much room but we'll be away for a couple of days next week so that'll help.
It isn't over 'til it's over!
August Shopping Challenge. 26/8. Budget £250 Spent £256.81.. £6.81 over. So £0.00 a day left.

Hi Fae, would you be able to post your recipe for courgette and mushroom risotto please? Sounds lovely and would be ideal as I would like to incorporate a couple of vegetarian meals into our diet each week
  • Between a shop at the farmers' market (really not that cheap here ) and some more basics from Lidl, I have spent another £9.49, that leaves me £7.71 to the end of the month  (just one more shop, next weekend).

Sounds scary, but I have plenty in, so it will be doable (it has to be!).

I fancied something sweet so made a tasty fruit loaf in the BM this week, plenty more slices in the freezer, it is really yummy:

  • I have just 3p left until next Friday which is the end of my month, although out of boredom I will probably cheat and get a couple of bits with vouchers and gift cards. I know I am fortunate not to be flooded or damaged by this weather but it is certainly getting me down. Tomorrow the big yellow disc is forecast so I hope me mood will lift. Plenty of food here, just not much motivation at present.
