Over budget this month but not unexpected as previously said I had an extra 2 mouths to feed for 2 weeks of the month and I'd set my budget prior to that.

Spent another £30 yesterday which I will add to my total. NSD today as not been near a SM!

Old Style is amazing as I got the idea and read up lots and lots about it here.https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/35756

    Homemade Laundry Gloop
    • 250g soda crystals(69p for 1kg bag)
    • 1 bar of soap - unscented vegetable oil or household soap (33.3p poundshop pack)
    • 250g borax substitute (£2.85 for 500g)
    • Hot water
    • Your favourite essential oil - I use lemon. (already used at home)
Grate the soap, I used my cheese grater. Heat up a couple of litres of water, no need to boil. Add grated soap, washing soda and borax and stir well until thoroughly dissolved. A big soup / stock pan is handy for this.

Add further hot water to make 4 or 5 litres total - the amount is not crucial. Whisk all together and add a few drops of essential oil.

Pour this liquid into plastic storage containers. I kepy whipping with my wisk to get a light gel like texture. It turns to jelly as it cools, so transfer it to its final container while still warm.

    To use:
Put half to one cup in the washing machine DRUM (not the drawer) on top of the washing. I use 2-3 of the scoops as shown in my pic.

    Homemade Hand & Body Wash
    • 1 cup boiling water
    • 2 tablespoons grated pure vegetable soap
    • 3 teaspoons glycerin
    • 3 teaspoons rose water
    • Few drops of essential oil ie: lavender
Melt the grated soap into the boiling water until dissolved. Then stir in the glycerin and rose water. Pour into dispensers or jar with lid while still warm. It'll start to solidify and separate - thin down with additional boiling water if required and shake to mix.

All I can say it is worth the risk trying this out for yourself. The ingredients are fairly cheap and even if you are not completely happy with it you can use it for some form of household cleaning.

I really like the laundry gloop - its surprised me how good it is.

Back from Asda on a YS hunt as our local store was closing down and our new one opening on Monday got some great bargains, spent l5.00
but all at about 75% off, but am sitting here shaking, injured and upset at the behaviour of a minority of people, it started off orderly and friendly, people waiting their turn, people responding to a request "pass me one of those please" but the it turned nasty people shoving and using trollys like battering rams, I put out a hand to deflect a trolly crashing into a pregnant woman beside me and lost half a thumb nail,
Its bloody sore and I find it scarey what will these kind of people do
    if theres a real crisis.

Sorry .I have posted before that I am nervous of a scrum at the YS
but todays experience has absolutely floored me.
