Lots of very good de-cluttering going on!!

I now have a pile of things in the spare room for CS, which I will try and take this week. We are now down to de-cluttering under the stairs cupboard, my dressing table, spare room of which I don't know where to start in there, cupboard in the living room and then all our paperwork. Seen a few people have done paperwork and hadn't even thought about it!

I think it will be tomorrow before I get chance to start de-cluttering again. I must admit that the house is looking better and the amount of thing's I keep finding that I forgot we even had is a little scary.
Christmas is the most magical time of the year :santa2:

Only come on to have a moan at myself!!

We haven't actually got that much 'clutter', nothing at all like you see on the hoarder programmes, thank goodness! Part of the problem here is that half the time one or more of us is too lazy/tired/doesn't have enough time to put things away properly/think about where they really need to go etc hence little piles of stuff build up or particular rooms that are used to hold stuff we don't know where to put yet or are in the process of selling/donating etc etc start looking messy. It's more the sorting through piles of stuff that needs doing as the rest of the place (so far this year!) is pretty tidy once jobs like washing up/emptying bins get done.

So where is my motivation?? I could understand it if the house was crammed floor to ceiling as it really would be a case of where on earth do you start. I've done quite a lot already of sorting paperwork, tidying hot spots for clutter and dumping grounds but apart from making more of an effort to use up odds and ends of toiletries and posting OH's ebay stuff I just can't seem to get myself into gear recently and it's really starting to annoy me!!

Doesn't help that we're getting married in August and again I'm struggling to start the ball rolling with various wedding tasks so feel like I've got both wedding and house jobs piling up on my shoulders and the really important stuff is sorted, it's '2nd level of importance' things that need doing now. Also, before the wedding my brother is coming back from Oz for a month and will be staying with us so I really need to get the spare room (sorry, meant dumping ground for loft stuff and anything else that doesn't have a home!) decorated - plastering the walls first is a must though lol. Shower needs replacing too as that's given up the ghost :(

Sorry to ramble, just feel like I might somehow motivate myself into doing things if I can see it in black and white on a public forum lol. I've always been like this, sometimes it gets worse like now and I put my head in the sand and hope everything will be fine when I pull it out again but things won't get themselves done if I don't do them. I have 20 minutes before school run, lets see if I can get at least one little job done!

Oh dear, just read back and it is a rather long moan - many apologies!

    Hello All

Apologies all for my absence but I do have a good excuse, lol, on Wednesday 12th Feb approx 9.45pm I was taken to hospital. Having a heart attack at 44 was never something I imagined happening to me but it has and I will be back, I had my op on Thursday morning (13th) and am now the owner of 3 stents within my heart. The consultant can not tell me why it's happened to me but I'm still here and will continue to get ...stronger - I have been told it could be 6-12 weeks before I am back to where I was before and for the first 6 weeks I need to be very careful and not overdo things. So I would love to apologise in advance if I appear to be neglecting our friendship but I will pop on as and when I have the energy.

I think of you all often and will catch up on the thread as soon as I can, keep up the great work everyone.

    Love

    C xx

I ought to feel ashamed of myself for moaning like that over nothing when you've had such a rough time Ziggy. Pleased to hear you're on the mend though, best wishes to you and take care xx

Wishing you a speedy recovery Ziggy x

Cat04 just start off small, a drawer or a cupboard. Don't be too hard on yourself congratulate yourself when you get a job done, no matter how small.
Before bringing something into your home ask yourself "do I need it?"
I've got much better at decluttering, through decluttering! I've also saved money in the process, but its an ongoing process. Every school holiday in my case!

Please come back and let us know how you are getting on, we are all on here because we are decluttering.

Yesterday I started on the kitchen. Threw out, out of date stuff and wiped out the cupboards. I've still got lots to do in the kitchen so today I have sorted out the boxes holding my baking stuff. So far I have got half a black bag of rubbish and plenty of recycling.

I also did some baking to use up some bits. I've just put the bread maker on to use up half a bag of flour.

I have some out of date tablets/medicine I will return them to the chemist on Thursday.

The sun has already been out this morning, it feels like spring-cleaning time.

    Have a lovely day.
