Another 9 things (bag to cs,food items to mum's and recycling - did a big batch of cooking and tidied odd items as I went along) bringing my total to 111.Going to be really brave and say 150by end of week/month.
Will count rubbish but not cheat ie normal binbag is 1item, wastepaper basket of recycling is 1 item - not going to start going to the bin with each individual can to bump the figures up.

Study and under-stair cupboard finished :j

-bits and pieces to ragbag recycling
-three bursting bags of paper shreddings
-half recycling box full of papers/magazines
-4 large cardboard boxes a few small ones flattened for recycling
-got rid of a stapler (really don't need two, probably only use it five times a year!)

All ebay bits now boxed up and easily accessible for next free listing weekend - hope that's next week!

I have organised all old paperwork that we might need into yearly bundles. Anything over six years old has been shredded except P60's and a few other bits. There will still be a bit more to organise in the study as I know we have a couple of boxes of bits i the loft that we moved out of there prior to the extension. These can wait for another day though as there's nothing urgent in there.

Also found £2 which has gone into our savings pot (pretty poor hourly pay for the work I've put in!).

Finished off giving everything a good dust and hoover and have opened the windows to air the study a little.

I can't stop going back to take a quick peek as it looks so tidy. Just need to make sure it stays that way...

Now need to catch up on other things that I've ignored all day so will empty DW and sort washing then go for a little walk. It's beautifully sunny here at mo and I could do with some fresh air now.

Yesterday I did the bathroom, my wardrobe and chest of drawers + upstairs store room where all the towels and toiletries live.
-I now have a body shop gift set that I have never used - going to re-gift
-Couple of face cleansers barely ever used which I will offer out to family/friends
-At least 10 items of clothing which will be making there way to the charity shop once we have sorted through the OH side of the wardrobe.
-Towel bale ( 2 x large 2 x hand towels) that are going to CS as we have far too many and these are like new & don't match in
-One cocktail dress that will be seeing ebay this weekend and if it doesn't see after one attempt will also go to CS

I have had a busy morning and although I managed to squeeze my ironing in haven't had time to de-clutter. Going to start now on the kitchen and then hopefully do my dressing table!

Well done everyone who has been de-cluttering & tidying!! A cup of tea (or coffee) is deserved!!

Been having problems with vacum cleaner not having much suction this morning so decided to clean the filter, but it broke as I was rinsing it  I have contacted Vax and hope they replace it as it has five year guarantee.

Guess that must be the universe's way of telling me that it's time for a cuppa and a sit down!
  • Hi all
I popped on last night to catch up and I am very impressed at all the hard work ocurring up and down the country:)
I was, yet again, spurred on to do some decluttering so I cleared out the bathroom. I thought it was fine but, a bin full and one carrier bag later made me realise I still have the affliction of looking but not seeing.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
There is a 2 drawer set in there that holds toiletries and loo rolls. For years the loo roll has been put in the top drawer and becomes squashed.:( Why? Because I have a plug in bubbly machine for use in the bath. I have not used it for years therefore, not seen it so out it went.
I also disposed of a couple of bottles of toiletries that have been there for years that I don't like- and probably is off now.:eek:
Today after may batch cooking I was standing scrubbing a pan that I have had for a long time. Every time I use it, food catches on the bottom. I then have to scrub and steep it over the nest couple of days.
    So out it went.
Thanks for all the inspiration from you all. Will pop back next week for another fix.

    Loving de-cluttering
  • I started a little clearing last week, before I found this thread so feeling a little :D

Last weekend I sorted/cleaned out one of the food cupboards and threw out the ood stuff :)

Also last weekend, my OH couldn't find any pain killers even though I knew we had some so that was that, medicine box sorted out gave him the pain killers and chucked out loads of carp!

I read through some of this thread last night and was feeling enthusiastic, but it was 11 so thought best not start right now :rotfl:

Anyway today I have sorted/cleaned out my other food cupboard and chucked some bits, also done the same to the fridge ready for tomorrow's SM delivery :A

Now the cupboards are clean and tidy I am in the mood for baking as some items need using up! I'm not the sort to enjoy cooking if I'm honest but flap jack and banana muffins here I come :rotfl:

Tomorrow I'm planning on de-cluttering my wardrobe as it's shocking in there at the moment :(

    Happy de-cluttering guys :)

Been away for part of half term with the kiddies visiting my parents so not as much done as hoped but have done the following:

Huge box out to courier which contained a big sub woofer/surround sound home cinema system thingy that OH has sold to upgrade to a smaller but better one so not a proper out as it's already been replaced but the new system sits on the TV stand rather than taking up a large amount of floor space behind the TV. This area has been decluttered of dust, wires etc reorganised and the stand has pushed back a bit so as a whole the TV area not only looks tidier but it takes up less space too :)
Yet another toiletry bottle used up in bathroom, rinsed and recycled
Binned some dusty bits I found under the sofa
Few more Blu-rays posted out which also uses up some of our large packaging stash
Couple of cards and some wrapping paper from the stash used
Found some Xmas pressie packaging that we'd shoved in a corner of the garage when the bin got full so they've now gone out to the recycling bin

I seem to be doing random bits rather than sticking to and completely sorting an entire room/area. Trying to organise bits for our wedding at the beginning of August too is distracting me so I haven't got my mind fully on track. Maybe when the girls start back at school on Monday I can focus my mind on both of these tasks!

Two more items sold on ebay this morning so that's those and some more packaging head out of the door tomorrow.

Just cooking my lunch HM soup and roll form freezer so decluttering that too.

Glad I didn't just order a new part for broken vacuum cleaner yesterday as VAX are sending new one out free as under guarantee.

Also most caught up on all washing now but DH and kids due home in a bit so they are bound to have another load or two to go on.

Study and cupboard are still clean and tidy. I have been in and out getting bits out and putting more in there but making sure I tidy as I go. Shredded bits this morning as soon as they were dealt with.

Found some paperwork for an old account I have. Don't think there is anything in it but have written letter asking to close it.

Three more items added to ebay pile - kids crocs and hats and gloves. All washed and ready to list.

So far this year I have given to charity two bin bags full of clothes, and 2 bin bags of books  as well as a carrier bag of CDs and DVDs.

I've also thrown away a bin bag full of toiletries/make up/hair products.

Have a couple of designer handbags on eBay but no sellers yet. I tried putting them on at a higher 'Buy Now' price but no interest so now they are on auction and I have a few watchers. Better than nowt!

    Not a bad start I don't think!
  • Went to an auction last week, so have brought some more stuff in. However, a lot of it is furniture that just needs a bit of tlc before going out for sale. Took a painted dresser out today which is now for sale and in its place is a gorgeous Victorian dressing table which just needs a bit of tlc. I love seeing something tired and past it's best being turned into something beautiful.
