Do let us all know, re the couch grass uses (if you ever find any) and bindweed as well.
The weeds that are plaguing my garden are bindweed, mint (some **** previous owner planted) and I fear neighbouring couch grass might make its way in.
Apparently bittercress (which also plagues my garden) is edible. Tried it...but not convinced personally. At least that one is easy to deal with...one quick pull on each plant and its gone.
But that bindweed is definitely a right **** and I keep finding it sending up little shoots into my garden from two adjacent bits of land. Yep...that's supposed to be edible too I gather (well at least one type of it is). I tried it one time and felt ill. Won't be repeating that experiment...0 -

I'm plagued with creeping buttercups and they are useless...

Mint is fairly easy -if you don't like it as tea or kitchen herb (icecream, syrup, curries??) surely you would find friends or even charity shops, allotment groups, freecycle who would love to take it off your hands if it comes up in places where you don't want it...
I think I have eaten bindweed after a foraging walk - is it the same as Japanese knotweed? I know the Japanese process it into a very healthy starch but no idea how we would do it. Costs a fortune in the health food shops (Kudzu).
I'll find what it says about the couch grass roots and post as soon as.First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0 -

I must admit though it's not as bad as Mare's tail but close....apparently there's a herbal use for it, must find out what it's good for. Bet it tastes horrid :rotfl:"We could say the government spends like drunken sailors, but that would be unfair to drunken sailors, because the sailors are spending their own money."

I appear to have a decent tomato load of sprouts.
Strangely, I have 2 trays. One has seen all seeds sprout, the other has seen 4 or 5 sprout.
Should give me about 20 plants, which is enough for me this year I think.
Just want to move now, so I can repot them & watch them grow! It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
well I have had a productive morning. The garden is sooooooooo hot this morning - we are basking in a glorious day so i am making hay.
Have potted on the cougettes havent had as many come through as I had hoped but I still have enough for the two of us. Can you freeze them?
Have potted on my toms, absolutely gorgeous and strong plants, very pleased with them.
Dwarf geen beans are in a mahoosive tub! Looking beautiful and I cant wait to taste them!
have left all potted ons in the garden as it is so lovely out there, will either cover or bring in as the warmth subsides though, dont think they are big enough to hold their own just yet.
This gardening malarkey is brilliant fun!!

I just ordered T&M's free tomatoes (offer still valid until tonight!) , mine might still be coming up but will be late - I'll make space if they do! Have put climbing bean seeds in the tunnel yesterday as outdoors was rubbish last year. First sign of life in the cucumbers and courgette trays! Yippeh! I'm back out there to clear a bed for mange touts and put Mizuna in the tunnel.First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0

To those fighting couch grass, grow turnips, I say.
Although I can't personally vouch for its success, I am led to believe that a liberal sowing of turnip can kill off the couch grass. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0
