depends what you want to cook with them. I always freeze a few, already chopped up for how I need them in the dish, mainly for Ratatouille and I never had an issue with mushiness. I also pickle quite a lot of them in a sweet pickle, it's so yummy.First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0 -

I like the flower bit and the making food but think show veg are boring. Why would you want everything uniform and perfect?
Really would like to grow more cutting flowers on my plot. Do sweet peas every year but would like to grow other flowers.Make £10 a Day Feb .....£75.... March... £65......April...£90.....May £20.....June £35.......July £600 -
Missed the allotment programme so thanks for the link savemoney, I'll watch it in the morning
Little going on at the moment, just earthed up the potatoes to the top of their containers so I just have to watch, water and wait now. Dug up the rosemary and planted cuttings in a pot, it had grown to almost 3 feet high and very woody. Mint, sage and lemon thyme all looking healthy in their pots.
One courgette plant is enough as there's just me, I use them in casseroles and curries, bake them round the Sunday roast, or grill them with cheese on, and a few I leave on the plant to grow on so I can have stuffed marrow.0 -
phew! The dwarf beans still look lovely this morning - was a bit worried as it went very cold overnight and we were warned of a frost, so i covered them just in case and they look great this morning as do pots, plum tree and other potted on from yesterday.
Just as I have never grown them before, do courgettes stand up straight or will they lean over? Do they need supports? I have been looking at the RHS website but couldnt see for some reason...

No, they don't need support as the don't climb unlike cucumbers. I just put a bit of dry straw under the fruit so that they don't touch damp earth. I find that hand-pollinating the flowers gives quite a lot more fruit than just waiting for the bees to do itFirst they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0
