I am usually pretty good at this sort of stuff but got left with someone on NYE who was just really really hard work - I kept asking questions to the point where I felt like I was a quizmaster on a fast paced show and she just kept grunting yes and no. In the end I just gave up and watched telly
I had a date like that. Just fired questions at me (honestly, not like you trying to spark up a conversation, I tried desperately but he was having none of it. Was probably his first date! Was some time ago!). Was expecting something like 'if you were a crayon, which colour would you be' lol. Honestly, it was impossible. I'm sure he wasn't listening to any of my replies either. I felt like asking if I'd got the job at the end.

There's a saying "think of what the Queen would say", but of course she's had lots of practice, and probably had some training in it too!0

I love talking to new people
A lot of the time it's been when we've been out so I usually ask how long they've been coming to x place, which usually leads to either reminiscing about the good nights out people have had or if they are younger than me how I'm such an old fart but still love the place, that then tends to lead to what do you do questions, so talking about uni or work.
I'm often the first person there so usually have time to kill before my friends get there so I just strike up conversations with anyone and everyone
If someone doesn't seem to want to talk I just moved onto someone else
I always got told off for talking too much in school so maybe that tells me somethingThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
