  • So I am over my 100 days.... booo! But on the plus side only 6 more days til payday and I can get it sorted out and under control, hopefully.

I'm feeling demotivated again. I know we all have these peaks and dips throughout our journey, and I'm trying to tell myself that this time next year I'll be down to single figure months left of being in debt, but its just one of those lulls!!

To try and make me keep control and get more paid off I've decided from this payday, to give myself an allowance of £25 per week to last me. I'll take out cash, and keep it in an envelope at home. What I don't spend for that week, I'll pay into the bank and off the debt. Then take the next envelope for the next week.

I think this will help me pay off little bits, and if I have cash in hand I'll think twice about spending. The only thing I really need is fuel in the car.

Anyway, I'm rambling, will update again maybe over the weekend, if not, on payday.

    Happy MSE times!

    Hi Mrs S

I hope you are okay. I too have had a demotivated spell but I feel a little more back on it!

In April I have decided not to take my wallet to work and to also give myself a spends allowance in cash as it makes you think twice bout using it!

  • So, I’m back in diaryland, and feeling a bit more motivated –these dips in motivation are such an inconvenience!!

I will catch up with diaries throughout the rest of theweek, but just thought I would update mine. I have made some changes to the plan which has meant that I haven’t paidoff quite as much with my bonus, because I had other things to pay, plus Idecided to put a bit extra in the joint account so I don’t spend the monthfretting about that not having enough in it. I’ve decided that with the surplus left at the end of each month, beforemy pay goes in, I will transfer to the debts too. It will be a better way of working becausewill mean that I am not paying loads off the debt and then leaving myself shortfor the day to day bills.

I also changed my car last week, so have had to rejig my carfinance, which was always part of my plan!! The last car was a super doper deal, so this one is more expensive but Iknew that was the case, and I can afford it so its done now.

Another thing I have decided is to take a weekly allowancefor myself. For lunches, for other bitsand pieces – just so that I don’t feel like I have ZERO money available. The change left over from that each week Iwill pay back into the bank and off of the debts. So hopefully between that and the extra inthe joint account we should be making more smaller payments, which will hopefullymount up.

The main aim now is to be rid of all small accounts (Thereare two with around 750 each on them) by end of June, and then that leaves uswith the loan and the credit card. Hopefully I can hammer away at these in the last 6 months of the year sothat we are below 10k by 1st Jan 2015. That will mean we’re on track for our DFD of25th Dec 2015. I don’t careif its only £9,999.99 so long as its below 10k!!

Right, enough rambling – I feel like I’m constantlyrejigging plans and things, but I guess that’s whats passing the time andpaying off the debts! Hopefully catch upwith some of you soon

I'm always rejigging things.. at least you're still working at it!

I know what you mean about having zero money feelings, we don't have a lot, but we do allow ourselves some pennies for little things - just so we feel we have our own money!

  • Yikes - nearly three weeks since I updated  that is not good! Must get back into my MSE ways!!

Well I've not really been out of them to be fair, I've just been particularly bad at updating my diary. I'm sure you don't want to read my daily updates of my woes!! Not a whole lot to report, I will need to go and update my sig as I wanted to do that on the 1st of each month, and it will soon be May.

Not a lot else to report, have a few things coming up that will be costly, but I will budget my May pay carefully and we'll be fine hopefully. DD's bday is in May but have plans for that so hopefully won't cost too much more than anticipated, but we will see. Other than that, just trying to stick to the plan and the budget.

Need to do a clear out of DD's wardrobe as she seems to have all of a sudden outgrown loads of things. That will be a wee visit to the Next Directory to replace, but I will sell some of her too small things to cover it.

Right, off to look at my signature, and will try my hardest to come back on this week and update....

  • Right, I am well and truely back in the saddle and ready to bust some debts!!

I went to view a house today, rather sneaky as its not part of our immediate plan, but the long and short of it is I fell in love with it. It is perfect, location, garden, garage, number of bedrooms... I could go on, but the point is, we can't afford to move right now, so I'm back with a vengance to kick this debts !!!!!

The plan is to move the CC to another 0% one, as its due to run out soon. That will keep that debt at 0%, I'll also pay off the two little accounts I have with that, so that overall we will only have 2 "debts" to pay towards. The other will be what is, at the moment our Sainsburys loan. I have been looking into a money transfer credit card (as per one of Martins weekly emails) and MBNA do a 0% one.

Hubby dearest has a 90% chance of acceptance for this, so in preparation we have written to Sainsburys to get a settlement figure. I think the loan has another 3 years to run, so if we could shift this to 0% I would be over the moon - and it will hopefully save us quite a chunk in interest, taking our DFD forward.

This is all in the pipeline at the moment, but I will be back on here, hopefully daily to keep my motivation up and keep the payments up too. I really want to clear our feet so that when the next house comes up and I fall in love, we are actually in a position to put in an offer!

    Wish me luck!

  • Arrgghh, have been knocked well and truely from my MSE high.... my DS has been accepted for pre-school starting after the summer. I thought my childcare would then half, but unfortunately not - my childminder has said that I will still have to pay full price, so even though he is going to be with her for three hours a day, I will still have to pay for 6.5.... gutted :( I can basically kiss any tiny opportunity of getting the house I viewed and I'm so disappointed.

On the plus side its payday tomorrow so that is always a good feeling to get some payments made.

Onwards and upwards I suppose, although it feels like a massive uphill struggle today!!

  • So its payday.... still not brimming with enthusiasm as I'm feeling like I have a massive mountain to climb, and even though the childcare thing isn't going up - its not coming down and thats what I was anticipating.

Anyway, I have made my minimums and payments for April so its looking like £329.56 for minimum payments and £149.73 for overpayments so far. I know I have next week too so will update my signature for my balance as of 1st May. We have a little trip planned for my DDs birthday in May so I will have to try and keep some money for that. Luckily we're staying with family so it should be okay.

Really need my monthly payments to be about £200 more than what they are to meet my target so hopefully I can get on the track with ebaying and stuff and make proper inroads after DDs birthday.

Off to have some breakfast biscuits for lunch - I'm buying NOTHING more from the cafeteria at work!
