  • Had you read my post I was seeking replies regarding an address to which I could write. Nowhere did I invite comments as to people's opinions on my issue and I was not obliged to reveal details of the grievance either. Had you read the post thoroughly you'll also have seen that I described the account as the short version. There are in fact wider far-reaching implications and this is something only they can answer. If you are unable to help or wish not to, do not post. Please refrain from posting sarcastic comments.

OMG this is a brilliant thread.

Just as a side, its a forum where people can write whatever they wish within reason, you are unable to stop them.

how can you be right when a dictionary says a bank worker is a teller yet we call them cashiers

yet a dictionary doesn't say what a till worker in a supermarket is called, thus any term is right or it would be written for clarification. ie

    till worker
    teller
    cashier
    person that over-sees the payment
    till attendant

now do you understand what is listed in a dictionary and why:)

The dictionary states that a person who handles a customers payment in a sho is a cashier, so cashier would be thencpdrsctnterm for someone workig on a till in a supermarket

Doesn't take a degree to figure that out.
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.

Any term? Are you sure? Basically you now seem to be suggesting we could even call them Postmen!

But I do see from the more or less rubbish you're posting now that the penny has probably dropped that teller is indeed not the correct word!

iPod playing up again. The word cashier is somewhere after the word cash. If you get your dictionary and look through it you should be able to find it. I used the Oxford English Dictionary

You get served by the bartender, they are not a cashier as they do not work in A shop.
