Oh, and never underestimate the positive side of going back to work. You can drink hot drinks whilst they're still hot, wear clothes that aren't covered in food stains/milk, have adult conversations about stuff other than sleep/poo/weaning/teething and eat your lunch in peace :)

My mil has taken G to hers for tea twice since we moved so I've had tea on my own at home. It was unbelievably nice to just sit and eat without bothering about what G was doing. Love him to pieces but the odd break is bliss :o

  • My LO has TWO teeth.....OMG.

I got a proper look at them today when she was in her pram and babbling away at me. Bottom left is more noticeable as a little bit is peeking through the gum, bottom right is hiding just under the gum, can just see the whiteness.

Nice to read the comments re nursery etc. Just today out of no where I started freaking out about going back to work, thinking I don't want too, I'll miss out on too much and right now even though she's asleep just wanna squeeze her and hold her tight.

Sounds daft but just suddenly dawned on me that even though I have tough times the things I am getting to do with her are just magical. It will break my heart if she does something for the 1st time without myself or hubby around.

But it was nice to read what you said Nutella about the power of being back at work. I'll keep telling myself that when I go back.

I don't know why I'm soooo nervous to be going back in May as it is only for 7.5 weeks after all and then I get 6 weeks off with her again.

Hope everyone has had a nice weekend. We enjoyed the sunshine and drove to a nice country park and had a walk around the lake. LO sat in her pram facing outwards for the 1st time, she thought it was fab and was busy taking everything in.

  • Hi all. Sorry no personals yet again. I always read several pages then promptly forget everything!

Hope everyone is ok. Nutella, good luck and hope everything works out this time (hope I'm remembering that right!)

We've got a 1st birthday party to go to in 2 weeks. Its for my nephew but I honestly have no clue whatsoever what to get him. He has loads of toys, books, bath toys, play-tunnel, walkers, activity stuff, ball pit etc. What else is there?! I thought I would find it easy but no :/

We took the girls for a walk on the reins yesterday to the local duck pond. Its only a 10 minute walk with the pushchair but we got home 2 and half hours later. The girls walked mega slowly and found everything fascinating and stopped to hug and kiss each other every few minutes. So cute!!!!

Maybe next size up clothes and shoes? Is what we've got baby relatives a few times as they were too young to appreciate most presents and it saved mum and dad a bit of money.

Ah cake that's so cute! Re presents I'd go for a good book, or little set of books - ones by The Gruffalo author go down well here, or the Dear Zoo ones. G absolutely loves books that are just pictures of things with with words next to them at the moment. Other than that I'd go with money or vouchers, if he really has everything already! That way the parents can put it towards a big thing as and when they spot something for him.

Last week of my OH being away this week! On Thursday G and I are getting the bus down from Notts to London to be there for his last day. Then we'll have to get the tube across London and train out to Surrey. Little bit apprehensive - I've done a 2 hour train journey with him but on a train he could get up and have a bit of a wander, not so much on a bus...

My friend had a baby yesterday. A little boy. She had actually wanted a girl but since I have a boy I'm glad it's a boy! Feeling a bit weird though. I had pregnancy envy last time I saw her, now I've newborn envy even though for me, the age lo is now is much better than newborn! !! My mum is having a hysterectomy today so that's stressing me out. .hopefully by lunch I'll know she's ok. It's same hospital where I had my son (by c section ..I won't bore everyone with details but I was numbed incorrectly and developed a bad infection and then my wound opened) so I'm scared even though I know they'll do these ops everyday without complications. We are at a new sure start class today so that's something to keep me busy though.!! Have a good day everyone xx
  • So it was my sons first birthday yesterday and it was a great day! He was socialable and good (no crying) all day but my god he was over tired by bedtime, he went to sleep with a bottle and then woke up an hour later thinking it was play time and cried for about half hour.

We've also both got a cold and cough so he's struggling today! It's a shame. So cake I would say we appreciated clothes in a bigger size as we had bought most of the toys!

Hope everyone else is ok, I know the feelings regarding work, I have a job that was covering maternity leave and it comes to a end soon, it's perfect hours, just in the morning before oh goes to work and now I'm worried I'll have to spend more time away from my lo and I'm gutted. So I'm applying for anything that is similar to this one .

    I've been Money Tipped!
Hooray for LO's 1st birthday MrsH. Sounds like you'll all take a few days to recover! Hope you get a similar hours sorted.
Cake, we gave money for our nieces and nephew's 1st birthdays. We wanted to give something about £20, so it would have been a few nice clothes, or a bigger toy but nothing really that would have lasted.
Bangton, hope your Mum hysterectomy has gone well, boo for new born envy, but I know what you mean about pregnancy envy (found myself thinking, tsk, lucky thing, watching Holly Willoughby on This Morning!)
Back home after our weeks holiday. We had a great time, T loved daddy time (as did daddy). Would recommend Bluestone (Wales) if anyone wants a nice break away.

Thanks lazywife she's fine. Phew! I was the same with Holly Willoughby! I have no idea why though! Mrsh first birthday! !! Wow. .so glad it was a good day. Had my sure start thing. It was pretty rubbish and lo cried constantly which he never does. I'll keep going though as I think he's just having an off day. I'm frazzled from him crying constantly. Everything has caused tears. . Leaving the room, removing my finger from his mouth, reloading the spoon at tea time! Going to bed! Really unusual but he seems well and was laughing and happy when he had my undivided attention! I was glad I went though as I'd been really worried about lo's size (he's on 85th centile for weight and 91st for height) but the babies here were all a month older and a pretty similar size for once whereas normally lo is the biggest! A mum told me at a meet up last week he's the size of a 2 year old which I think started my worry until I realised if that were true would he be in 6-9 month clothes at pretty much every store! !!
