Glad your mum is ok Bangton :T

Happy birthday to your LO MrsH2B! Hope you both get over your colds quickly. Your LO did better than mine on his first bday - we had all his little friends over for an indoor picnic (damn weather!) - halfway through he conked out and had to be put to bed! Couldn't even sing happy birthday to him!

We took the girls for a walk on the reins yesterday to the local duck pond. Its only a 10 minute walk with the pushchair but we got home 2 and half hours later. The girls walked mega slowly and found everything fascinating and stopped to hug and kiss each other every few minutes. So cute!!!!

    Awww, that's really sweet :D

My LO has developed a slight obsession with ducks - we walk through a park to get to the nursery, and I'm always under pressure to find some! We have to say hello and bye to them and count them, too (including mummy ducks and daddy ducks) - our record so far is 13 in one morning :) I've never been a morning person, but it really is a lovely start to the day.

Hi all, love the duck counting!
Baby is six weeks today. Met with the nct girls yesterday and was clear what a long baby he is- he's the youngest of the group but looks very grown up next to the others! This morning I fed him lying down in bed and as I was getting ready he rolled from his back onto his right side, first time he's done this. We also had a little co-sleep nap after the feed.
I've been very paranoid about co sleeping dangers and haven't done it before - any one got any resources/reading on co sleeping that they recommend? X

This is taken from the kellymom one:

General Safety Guidelines for Bed-sharing –

Any sleep surface that baby uses (including cribs, nap surfaces, or adult beds) should be made safe for baby:
    • The sleep surface should be firm. Do not put a baby on a waterbed mattress, pillow, beanbag, sheepskin or any other soft surface to sleep.
    • Bedding should be tight fitting to the mattress.
    • The mattress should be tight fitting to the headboard and footboard (or sides of the crib).
    • There should not be any loose pillows, stuffed animals, or soft blankets near the baby’s face.
    • There should not be any space between the bed and adjoining wall where the baby could roll and become trapped.
    • The baby should be placed on his back to sleep.
    • Babies (with or without an adult) should never sleep on a sofa, couch, futon, recliner, or other surface where baby can slip into a crevice or become wedged against the back of the chair/sofa/etc.

My LO is 21.5 months now, where does the time go?!?!

His speech is coming on leaps and bounds, he's got to the point where he has realised that talking gets him what he wants (mostly!) so now he's actively trying to say things - so he'll point at something for us to say the word, then he will practice it over and over. It's a bit wearing sometimes but very cute!

He's also starting to put words together, so we get things like "cat chair cat no" (the cat was sitting on his chair, he wasn't happy about that!).

He's started copying what we say too, and he's picked up on one from OH.... so now everyone gets "Hiya mate!" :D

From 2015 the government is offering up to 20% of childcare costs paid for working families - up to a maximum of £2000.

WHY can't they do that from this year?! My annual nursery bill is £8375.............:eek::eek:
