Thanks sunshine!!!!! Katie That's so cute and funny. Bless him!! My little man has a new trick..taking his hat off. One minute hats on next minute I turn round in car to check him and hats off. Funny thing is he snuggles up to it and when I get home he's asleep with it nestled under his chin. I've bought him a skipper comforter from the white company to see if he likes that as he seems to be very tactile. Giggles his head off when he rubs daddy's stubble! For now though I've bought a gilet with s hood as there's no keeping hats on him. It's remarkable..4 months ago he was new born..Now he's pulling out the cleverest tricks. He's not a good sleeper (grrrrrrrr!!) But he bowls me over!0

bangton - there's a four month sleep regression and for us it was awful, she slept really well as a newborn so it was a total shock. There's another one at 7 months which we're just hitting...just in time for my return to work!
I'm glad others struggle with keeping up with housework too, I was starting to feel a bit useless. LO chases the vacuum or chews the cable so I can't do it until she's in her cot and then I can't do her room because it'll wake her, thankfully I can do the rest of the flat0 -
Thanks sparkles. Some of the mums on here mentioned it so it's keeping me going!!! Can I ask how long it lasted? We are in week 3 although it's on and off...a few shocking nights then he'll sleep 8 solid hours which is amazing but only ever for one night then it's back to waking often. The naps thing is hard to tolerate because without them he's a cross boy!!!0

Hello lovely ladies, please may we graduate onto this thread? Imogen Louisa was born a week ago today on the 29th at 5.48am 7lb 3.5oz.
Was always petrified of birth, but someone somewhere was kind to me as only in labour for 3.45 hours! Unplanned water birth as I always said I didn't want to have a birth plan in case nothing went wrong or I didn't want to follow the plan in the end! I literally threw myself in the pool though! Had been in the bath at home and had really eloped. Was totally in denial about being in labour and poor hubby had a time eating me to the birth centre as I thought we were going to be sent home as it was a quick progress from 8mins apart to 2 mins within 45 mins!
All in all had a really good experience, although much to the disappointment of the midwives she's still going to be an only child!Married the lovely Mr P 28th April 2012. Little P born 29th Jan 20140 -
Congratulations Jemb, beautiful name and welcome. Sounds like a lovely birth as well
I loved the birth pool, took away the back labour. Next time I'll go with the advice about getting in the bath. if we're blessed with a second that is.
I tried to get I into some kind of schedule today, it's massively backfiredAlthough it started off ok. We fed at 7am, then played for an hour until she was tired, then she went down swaddled in the moses basket until 11am. Then I woke her up as she was meant to be awake at 10am for the next feed. Put her straight back down again as she was still asleep. Then she woke up angry around 12pm and it's taken until now to get her calm and asleep. I tried to put her straight down in the moses basket but again she wasn't having any of it. She screamed when I tried to swaddle her. In the end I've had to let her fall asleep in her swaddle bag with one arm out on my chest whilst I walk around the house. She's gone down in the moses basket now, but it was a big fight. That's the last time I attempt routine!
Does anyone else have fights trying to get LO down in the basket? I don't know whether to let her fall asleep on me then put her down, or let her scream it out. We haven't really done crying and probably spoil her a bit so she rarely cries but she's very good and we're only waking up in the night at 3am so I can't really complain about the unroutine daytime, but I'd like to be able to know "oh it's 11am I'll be able to have a shower in 30mins" etc... I may be asking too much from a 3 week old.Diary: Getting back on track for 2013 and beyondDEBT FREE 13-10-13 :dance::dance::dance::dance:

Kerri, it is impossible to spoil a 3 week old baby. Crying is her only way of communicating so I would not worry about soiling her at all. CIO and controlled crying is not recommended for young babies. C never went into his Moses basket at that stage,
As for routine, I can't say we have one as such even at 5 months. It's frustrating at times but I grab a shower when I can, eat when I can and as far as possible maximise whatever free time there is during the day.
Jenb welcome and congrats x0 -
Kerri I'll let him fuss and whinge in his basket as I know he'll drop off after a few minutes but if he cries I pick him up and cuddle til he's sleepy/asleep then try again
We don't have a routine, he wakes every 3-4 hours for a feed and I plan my day around that. He's a very sleepy baby though, we've only just started getting long awake periods during the day as apparently according to midwife premature babies spend their time sleeping to catch up on growth they've missed until their due date which was only Sunday
Welcome and congratulations again jembLittle Lowe born January 2014 at 36+6

Kerri, I tried exactly the same as you have done when Thomas was a similar age. It didn't work. Now, I don't worry about routine. We seem to have fallen into a loose routine but Thomas is still fed on demand. He seems to sleep at similar tines everyday.
We are still battling with being put down to nap in the day. It just isn't working. I've tried letting him cry but he starts coughing and gets himself into a state...not going to do that.DS born November 2013 :smileyhea0 -
At 3 weeks I honestly wouldn't worry about a routine too much Kerri, in a couple more weeks she'll most likely start to follow her own routine, and from experience I can say its easier for you to adjust to her routine than try and fit her into one. Do you have a bouncy chair type of thing? Would she be happy in that on the bathroom floor while you get a shower?
I know some of the ladies that used to be on here (although I'm blowed if I can think of who exactly) used to use apps on their mobiles to record when LO slept and fed and pooped etc, and after a couple of days of tracking you could see a very loose routine forming so knew (roughly) when to expect things.Newborn thread member
