Hi all
Glad to hear that things are going well with no. 2 Mrs H.
CD, I feel your pain about Christmas here with the cold, dreary grey weather - what I would give for a Christmas in the sunshine again! Not sure how long you'll be taking for mat leave but would it be a possibility for next Christmas if you're still off?
I finished work on Christmas eve as have a lot of AL to use up before starting mat leave. Can't believe it's only about 6 weeks to go to meet number 2. A is so funny; hoping she will be ok once baby arrives. She has moved into a "big girl" bedroom and bed and said to me, mommy the baby can go in the baby room when it's out of mommy's tummy, but baby can also sleep with me in my new room.
Loved her comment this morning when she came in my room, "Mommy, when the baby is out your tummy, I'm going to be the Big Sister! And can play with the baby, and mommy, you won't have a big tummy anymore!"
She really got Christmas this year and I just loved seeing it through her eyes!
Ashtray heart, have you tried co-sleeping at all? There were periods when I did it because I don't believe in cry it out and it was the only way to all get sleep.
Hope that everyone else is well xx0 -
Hi ladies. I thought I'd come over and join you. I gave birth to my little boy on Saturday at 38 weeks, forceps delivery and retained placenta but both he and I are here safe which is the important bit.
He is just so precious. I can hardly drag myself away from looking at him.
The baby blues hit me like a train yesterday but a hug of hubby and some sleep and I feel much better today. Little one won't settle in his crib or moses basket (or anywhere which isn't on one of us) so we are currently tag teaming him. I did some reading up and one set of advice was sort it now, immediately or it will never get better, and another said don't worry, enjoy the cuddles of the first week or two, he'll settle down soon enough. I'm going to go with option 2 I think, this is time I will never get back again.0 -
Hey Rambosmum, Congratulations again on your little one.
Re settling, my LO wouldn't settle either except for on one of us so I took to wearing my stretchy wrap with her in and slept in a propped up position to ensure we could all sleep at night. It wasn't until she was able to go into a sleeping bag that I got her to settle in the moses basket, especially at night.
She is now (on the whole) a brilliant sleeper at night.
Option 2 is the definitely the best one - they grow so quickly and for the past 9 months LO has been kept safe and warm by you, listening to the sound of your heart.
Hope that you're feeling better today. Something someone said to me after A was born is that no one has every had your baby, so despite all the advice they may offer, they don't know your baby like you do - trust yourself x
A has been helping me get things ready for baby - she is SO excited to become a big sister. Just hoping that the excitement remains once baby is here!0 -
MrsH congratulations on baby number two, what lovely news to read that you're all enjoying the new arrival.
Sad, eeeek not long now! A sounds delightful, so excited!
Rambosmum, welcome, congratulations. As you've said, cuddles all the way here. T would generally have alot of his sleep between 3-6am when he was so little. I'd often just cuddle him until he was asleep enough to put down and then know that I should get those few hours. Every baby idea different, go with how you feel. And enjoy!
T is 2.5, he is full on and still a bundle of energy. Although I'm envious of all you pregnant ladies, I really couldn't cope with a newborn right now. I don't think me, T or the newbie would all make it out alive!

Lazywife, I have totally put my foot down about A staying in nursery 1 and a half days whilst I am on mat leave... that is my coping mechanism to get through both these next few weeks and once baby arrives!
She only qualifies for her 15hrs free nursery from September so would definitely be a saving if I kept her off but for all our sakes she will keep going and luckily she LOVES her time at nursery. I have also budgeted the option of her doing two full days for 6 weeks once baby has arrived if I need it. Luckily my nursery is very flexible.0 -
Lol, that sounds a very sensible plan Saf!

I had a second car seat in my car this morning as needed to return it (after getting a repair done to the release mechanism of our second seat). When A got into her seat this morning, and saw the second seat she exclaimed "Mommy!!! There's a seat for mommy's baby - we go hospital now and get the baby out mommy's tummy and baby will sit next to A!!!!" Bless her, she was SO excited that there was now a seat for the baby to go!
Hoping that the excitement lasts once baby is here.0 -

So after 15 nights of no more than 1.5 hours of sleep at a time (and no more than 4hours in a 24hour period) I gave in and co-slept. 3 straight hours of sleep for the both of us, he was so settled!0

Ramboamum as long as you do it safely it can be the best thing ever. Me and my husband have never had a sleepless night with our nearly 3 yr old, he had bad reflux so we Co slept. The only hard part was getting him in his own room and sleeping on his own but weve cracked itNewly Married, not a 2b anymore!! Mum to two wonderful boys!0
