Oh how rotten Dizzi! Hope little one is better now. We've all had coughs and colds here and I can't seem to shake mine (over two weeks coughing now!) but thankfully nothing serious.
Hope you all had nice Christmases. Ours was lovely, 1st Christmas with baby (10.5m) and he was spoilt with lovely gifts. Managed to time it so he ate Christmas dinner with us which was great. Unfortunately we couldn't settle him to sleep in the evening so after three hours we went home around midnight having missed the evening games anyway! Never mind. I did find it all a bit stressful - poor baby with 9 loud and tipsy adults who expect him to be excited by all the gifts etc - but it was lovely all the same!

  • Poor E Dizzi, hope she is a lot better now.

fran-o I think Christmases from now on are going to be more exciting and stressful with a child! Hoping LO will believe in santa claus.

My LO has been poorly and very clingy to mummy - I'm getting a bit annoyed by it to be honest! He's a lot better now so he's happier playing on his own for a bit.

I can't stop buying him toys! I think some of the toys I bought for him were a bit too advanced for him like the duplo number train so they'll be good for later on this year.

He's 15 months and starting to take a few staggery steps by himself when no one is watching!

I have also been forward-thinking (!) and bought him Christmas clothes for next year - 2 jumpers, shirt, 2 t-shirts and a onesie. Can't stop spending when it comes to baby.

    Hi everyone!

Ages since I posted and just here to wish you happy new year!

Dizzi. . Sounds awful! Hope all is ok now?

Know what you mean about spending Benice. I love buying toys but lo also loves playing so it's not really a waste!

Nothing really to report here. I leave my job on 30th January (redundancy) and have a new one which unfortunately is full time when I wanted part time. I found it much harder than I thought to find part time work with a decent hours so we will see what happens later in the year as I've got a fortnight off with little one at the moment and I'm loving it to be honest!

I do love working in a way. No stress over nap times /mealtimes etc but I'd rather have a day or two off in the week with little boy as he's loads of fun.

He's been walking nearly 2 months and now we are onto climbing on everything which is a bit of a worry. He has a bounce and spin zebra that he stands on instead of sitting on it and we've had some falls off furniture. I seldom leave him in a room alone anyway but feel like I can't bob out for a minute with the climbing in case he hurts himself. I guess it's a novelty at the moment.

oh and no sleeping through. ..gahhhh! ! Not ever!

Have a great new year everyone xx

It's horrible isn't it Bangton. I really wanted part time too, but there was just none out there with reasonable hours, they were all fully flexible, or 16 hours over 4 days etc which really doesn't suit me. The job I have though is with local government so I'm really hoping in a few years I'll be able to either go term time or part time, like my mum did, but we'l see.

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and I'll wish you all a happy new year now, as more than likely il forget at the time. Xxxx

My LO loves her number train, and it's been brilliant for learning numbers and colours as well for playing with of course :D We build a station, and then we pile all the Duplo people and animals onto the train - no one ever gets off! :rotfl:
  • Happy new year to you all and your families, any resolutions made this year?

Hello ladies and little ones :)

Happy new year and belated Christmas wishes! Hope you all had a good one. We had a lovely time, too many presents for the boy and too much food for us! Had to have a massive toy sort out to make room for everything, we are having a conservatory built mid Jan and am thinking it will be mainly used as a play room at this rate.

I understand the problems with full time work and feel your pain guys. I know how lucky I am to be able to do 4 days, and I so appreciate my non working day with him. I was very lucky that after my maternity leave my manager was happy for me to adapt my working pattern. You never know what the situation will be in the future and you may be able to adjust the hours you work, and just remember you are doing it for the LO as well as yourself.

Kids all fine and nicely recovered - have to take E to the doctors for an asthma review but I don't really think she needs a brown daily inhaler - it was just one really nasty bug going around... I can vouch for how nasty it was... I've just had it myself and it absolutely floored me.

Don't know if it'll help anyone but we've had bother getting mine to start drinking out of cups and beakers - they really didn't take at all the the usual plastic beaker type cups... Disney store had a load of really sturdy plastic cups in reduced the other day (the snowglobey type with glitter and sparkly bits in a plastic outer bit)... instant job done with a spot of Tinkerbell leverage and they're nice sturdy quality - would never have paid full price for them though!
