BeNice, thanks so much for the blog link - looks exactly like my kind of thing; I will definitely be exploring! :) I also like the gingerbread mum - LO loves the sugar free flap jacks.
  • thanks for the link nutella, the flapjacks sound nice. As LO is only 7 months, chopped nuts and seeds aren't really suitable ingredients right now. Deliciously Ella does a nice brownie recipe I've heard - it uses ground nuts which I think should be OK and raw cacoa (?) which I haven't even heard of. As LO has a strawberry allergy already and eczema, I'm also a bit nervous about introducing common allergens.

Cacao is really just a fancy name for cocoa :o

You can grind any nut or seed irrespective of what the recipe says (I add ground almonds and ground sunflower seeds to LO's porridge), but it sounds like it'd be sensible to be a bit careful with your LO.

I now want to make everything on the Deliciously Ella blog - soooo many yummy-looking things there! :)

  • I was thinking about doing this banana icecream for LO over the summer and also as he's still having trouble eating bananas. Hard to believe it's just frozen mashed up banana. My friend tried it and she says it's fab. I'll have to keep an eye out for reduced over-ripe bananas as they seem to be great for banana related puddings.

So for some reason A is up, has been for the past 2hrs. I go back to work tomorrow, including a 2hr commute (hour each way). I can't function let alone drive safely without sleep... I'm in tears trying to make her go to sleep. I don't know what to do. I even left her to cry after an hour and a half... She cried for 15min, getting louder until she was screaming.

Oh no Saf, hope you're ok and got some sleep in the end :( Is she teething? My LO can be awake for hours in the middle of the night when she's got a new tooth coming through, and nothing I do to get her back to sleep works. When I get desperate I give her some ibuprofen (she refuses paracetamol) and she falls asleep when it kicks in.... Sending you a big hug x

Aw Saf, hope it's got better since 3am!? i think the thing to remember is that you can function remarkably well when you are tired. Even if it doesn't feel like it at times. Your commute will be hard, but you can actually concentrate on the road, not half on A at the same time, you can have an actual break for lunch and although work will be challenging, you won't have to be 5 steps ahead all day and chasing a LO about. I remember being ridiculously tired when I was pregnant and not sleeping and it turned out that I still managed a day at work, hopefully the principle will still work now (and try not to worry about your new role, you may find it suits you better?)
Happy Belated Birthday mini Nutella! Love the look of all those recipes, they look yummy, but I have to confess alot of faf with dates etc, I'm a bit more just give him a biscuit?! (bad mummy moment, I know) I do try to give T a very balanced diet, so I don't feel too guilty. Maybe when he's older and wants to help with making stuff I'll come back to stuff like that.
BeNice T had a bit of eczema and used to get a bit red and blotchy with tomatoes, but he's fine now. You may find by slowly trialling different foods things settle down (turns out alot of the flare ups with his eczema was wool... eg crawling about on carpet, a jumper he wore).

Thank you ladies, Nutella, you've given me hope that it might be teeth therefore not a new "thing". The past two nights have been very bad and I thought I glimpsed a new tooth just at the gumline yesterday. We ended up being up for two and a half hours; had I been back to work today I don't think I'd have bothered going back to bed so my plan for tonight is a very early night.
Everything seems worse when you're tired and I had three hours sleep Monday night, so coming with another bad night so soon...
Lazywife, I was thinking about it, and the one advantage of this new job is I work out an office only seeing patients in their own homes so "should" be able to get away on time as will never have a patient/ relative standing there wanting to see me.

I have just realised you can freeze sandwiches so am off to do a batch, have got some clothes for myself and A ready for the morning and just need to pack my work bag.
    Onwards and upwards...
