Hello everyone,
Well can you believe it but my childcare saga continues...
Was due to meet childminder A this Friday to go over everything. So I planned to ring my work on Thursday to confirm what days I was working (think I posted saying I'd bumped into my TA manager who had passed on my plea pretty much that I needed to work Mon - Fri due to my child minder not being available Fri) so I could sign contracts and agree what days as possibly LO would go to her Wed/Thurs and childminder B on the Fri.
Picked up an email from childminder A about an hour ago informing me she could no longer provide childcare for me due to a child in her care already needing longer hours and that the situation was complex
I have until the 4th June to sort something out and now as it stands only have childcare on the Fri.
Only today did I phone a nursery up telling them we decided to go with childminders and then this happens.
Coming to terms that I might just have to shell out for school holiday care as well and not have the luxury of no childcare costs for 13 weeks of the year.
Tomorrows plans have suddenly changed dramatically. Phone calls and visiting nurseries here we come. Really hoping I get something sorted by this Friday.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160 -

LO's chesty cough has gotten worse poor thing so lots of mummy cuddles, calpol and staying in for tomorrow I think.
CD glad the MIL avoidance is working well
Delain I got some little cups from mothercare but they still look huge for LO, lol
LO tried some apple and pear today. I baked them in the oven so they were a bit softer for him. Fingers crossed that the pear works well for constipation! LO has been pooing with less effort since I stopped giving him toast. I'm not going to add another meal until he's ok digesting the 2 a day.
Does anyone know if there are guidelines as to how much babies should eat or how quickly they should be on 3 meals? HV said it could be a matter of a few weeks before babies are on 3 meals if they have purees but BLW tends to be longer. However there is a phrase 'food before one is just for fun' knocking about so where does that come from? It seems pretty confusing but I feel OK about my baby leading the way - I figure that he'll eat more once he gets the hand skills and his digestive system can cope with it.
I had this debate in my head re 3 meals a day. I was all set to introduce tea this Friday but suddenly found myself doing it last night.
Today LO had - porridge for B, 1/2 a crumpet & 1/2 pot of custard for L and cauliflower cheese followed by pureed apple for T.
I as well have cut out the toast even though she loves it as the other day I had her straining to poo, could see her face going red and a few times she cried. She did poo and whilst it wasn't hard it definitely wasn't totally soft.
I have to give LO finger food as she gets cross if I constantly spoon feed her. I didn't know why she was upset a few weeks back and then when I suddenly gave her toast and she took it to her mouth she calmed down. So I have a little miss independent on my hands and as long as I give her some kind of finger food I avoid the whole temper phase from her.
I started weaning when LO was 5 1/2 mths. So it took 4 weeks and 2 days to go from B to now all 3.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160 -
With BLW, if they're awake when you're eating, then offer some food, because your baby is leading the way if they're hungry, they will attempt it, if they're not they won't. So I wouldn't worry about going in too quickly, similarly if they're sleeping and miss a meal don't panic either. The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0

Sorry to hear your childcare issues are continuing CD, hope they get sorted soon.
Having some weaning issues here- she won't stop eating and is now very much off her milk! Have been sneaking it in to all the meals I can but feeds have gone down from 40 mins to 5 or 10 at the most. She's only six months so I may reduce her hearty portions for now and see if that gets us further in the milk dept!
Hope everyone had a lovely Easter, now missing DH and counting down to the weekend!0 -
DD is currently on her tummy getting a workout while I eat some toast
I'm trying not to put any more weight on but there's so much chocolate in the house!
I agree with what Gillyx said re BLWWith DS he was consistently on 3 meals a day plus snacks at around 9 months. He ate like a bird till 18 months so the relaxed attitude of BLW really suited us.
BeNice have you seen the BLW website and forums? Really nice and supportive people.Food under 1 relates to how your lo should be getting their majority of nutrients from breast milk/formula.

Ohhhh I feel soooo  at the world right now.
I honesty feel I cannot catch a break. Found myself crying this morning whilst holding LO as said to her 'who on earth do I get to look after you now'.
I phoned work and told them my new situation and that I needed confirmation of what days I am working. I get home from visiting 2 nurseries and they've changed it to what I asked for so working Mon - Wed, however that doesn't actually matter now because I wanted to work Mon - Wed so LO could go to child minder A who has now cancelled on me.
I've now had to contact my swimming company to see if I can get a refund as had booked in LO to swim on Monday's.
All child minders are full or have split days with availabilities or as per usual one had spaces Wed - Fri, which yesterday was fine, today of course now it's not.
Nursery A is fantastic but it's an extra £183 a mth we'd be paying as you pay for 51 weeks a year and of course since Feb we've been thinking we've got a child minder for term time only.
Nursery B was alright, nothing in comparison to nursery A. Though is looking into providing term time only for me and is only down the road from my work.
(I say nothing in comparison referring to its appearance and I know one shouldn't judge a building as I know just because a facility looks better doesn't mean the care is better but very very hard not too)
I'm finding this a right struggle because my child minder just ticked all the boxes. The 1st child minder I visited who only lives not even a 5 min walk away still has spaces which is good to know and also obviously extremely handy but I'm just struggling to come to terms I might not find what I had and then feel like I am taking second best.
I feel like a bad mummy now.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160 -
Aw CD, you're not a bad mummy, you're a good one for taking so much care to pick the right childcare for your LO. I'd just keep looking at different options. If all are exhausted go with what you feel is right. If you need to budget for the "better" nursery, go with it... but seriously you know better than to judge it by a building
Welcome Smlsave, nice to see a new name on here.x
Sorry, not posting much, but still reading.x0 -
Not been on in such a long time. Hope everyone is ok x
The girls are coming on in leaps and bounds. Its so scary how fast they are growing. I look at them everyday and think its all happening so quickly
I've read back sooooo many pages! Someone asked about vitamins? I was wondering that myself. The last time I saw the HV (months ago) she said its recommended to give vitamin D. I bought some drops but haven't gotten around to giving them yet. Just feel a bit weird about it!
Regarding OHs having the LOs. The girls are 18 months old on the 1st and OH has had them once. While I nipped to town for a couple of hours. And he looked after Amelia for an hour once while I took Mollie to the doctors. I know for a fact he just sits and watches the tv and doesn't even notice what the girls are getting up to. The other day Amelia was chatting to him and walked over to him and laid her head on his shoulder. OH didn't even notice he was that enthralled in Rugby. I actually had to point it out to him. Twice
Gilly, I feel your pain on the shoe front! We got the girls new shoes on Friday. £60 spent at clarks, then £22 on slippers and £20 on summer sandals. Phew!
We had a lovely Easter at Grannys. The girls had an easter-egg hunt in the garden. Mollie kept picking eggs up and then taking them all into one corner and hiding them! Amelia was filling up her basket and loving it!
CD, hope things work out for you:j:T Gorgeous twin girls born 1st Nov 2012 :T:j0 -

Re: shoes - we've got doddles for LO when she starts walking - she's at the two steps and then sit down stage at the moment.
She's cutting all four top teeth - all through the gum just so she's clingy and whining and I'm so tired from her being up every night. We're staying at my parents this weekend though so if her teeth settle a bit, we're going to try leaving her to whine (it's not really crying) as we can't in the flat.
Her current favourite game is pulling all the DVDs out of the cabinet, no matter how many times we say no or redirect her. It's really frustrating but I guess it's normal boundary pushing?0
