  • I had a look at my cc bill. It is all mostly eating out and drinks. I don't really think I can afford Centre Parks (yes I know it is spelt wrong but can't stand writing the other way!;) ) anymore or rather I would do better with my money else where. We ate out 6 times across 3 days and although I did try to keep it cheap we simply split the bill 3 ways so it didn't make much difference. that was over a £100 and then drinks......... And I did waste money on a scarf cos I was cold, super annoyed this weekend I did the same thing. Mum has the heating on and it is roasting in here so I didn't really realise how chilly it was... so that is 40 quid wasted right there. And it is mental because I would stop and question myself if spending that much on a top in normal circumstances but I just wanted to be comfortable whilst away :(

There is an element of keeping up with the people I am away with. all earn more than I do (my lack of ambition tends to keep wages down!) and won't do things like drink the tea in the Travelodge and have to have specific wine. Luckily I have given up wine so avoided that expense- yes specific does mean expensive.

I am very much a working class girl done good - well fairly good :) Family are important to me, the people I love are important and I don't know anything about wine, food or high fashion. I won't be an advert for someone else's brand and I am generally as happy with a bag of chips as I am in a restaurant. Heck I still like eating in Pizza Express! My recent holiday friends do not. One was quite rude about Caf! Rouge! but then she was quite critical about everything!!

The other big expense has been the gardening and the animals. a couple of visits to the vets and an outdoor hutch.... which in all likelihood won't be used till next spring! I took so long to decide which hutch to buy by the time it came the weather is now too cold for them.

Today I was going to garden but it is raining quite heavily.

so decluttering inside post breakfast. I have a list!

    But breakfast first - priorities!

I still think of pizza ex-press and cafe r-ouge as "special" - mainly as we don't have them here and they're more than I'm willing to pay for a meal. I'm happy with a "spoons" beer and burger deal at £5.

I sort of "know" wine but only because DHs family are big wine "knowers" - but I still like the Mr S generic version at £4 a bottle whereas they think you need to spend at least £10 on a bottle.

The first time I cooked for DH he brought a bottle of wine, it was ok, not really my sort of thing....he told me about a week later than it was £25 a bottle so I told him that I fed myself and 2 kids on less than that per week......he's never brought it again.

Surely the piggies can still go out - it's not cold, just a bit nippy now and then. If you acclimatise them slowly then they can stay out until it starts getting frosty.

  • so glad I am not the only one! :)

One friend has wine at home worth 100s of pounds (per bottle) and I NEVER buy her wine always some kind of cooking thing instead you know those funny bottles of oil? or a desert on the rare occasion she has cooked for us as they are so rude, once her husband gave a bottle of wine back to a guest.

It is a minefield as I was friends with her before she meet the rich hubby and now she is certainly used to the finer things in life. I just can't afford it. Well that isn't exactly true as I don't think I would even if suddenly I got rich!

Watching a programme about animals and a woman's dog has died so am sitting here crying!

    xxx

ps. then there was a dog who helped a disabled girl live more independently. AMAZING.

    but more tears!

  • I know nothing about wine. OH bought me a nice bottle when I got a new job soon after we got together and I had to pretend to be impressed...I knew it was posh cos it had a cork in it! I only buy expensive wine if it's on offer in the supermarket!! And then never usually more than a fiver (expensive is anything more than a fiver haha!)

Programmes like that always make me cry Buffy. I'm a real softie and cry at anything though!

    Hi Buffy,

We have a few friends that are decidedly richer than we are (It doesn't take much :o), and I find there are two different types:-

The snobby ones that ram their wealth down your throats and the normal kind regular folk who may be rich but you would only know if you examine their clothes closely or their home furniture choices etc.

I have recently distanced myself from one couple who only seem to invite us round for drinks when they have just bought something flamboyant that they want to show off!!. I find it really distasteful and I come away from meet ups with them feeling really rubbish about myself. Not the basis for a good friendship.

You may have a higher self=esteem and be able to cope with friendships like that. I just find it super hard work :o.

I know nothing about wine either, but then wine doesn't really agree with me, I'm more of a gin and tonic kinda gal.

Don't feel bad about your spends over the weekend, with the folks you went with I think you did good damage limitation.

    Onwards and upwards xxx

You can't beat "Spoons" for half decent grub Pooky! And their house wine at just over £6 a bottle. I never buy wine that isn't on a half price offer either - £4.49 is my limit Penguin! Have a good day Buffy despite the rain - it's raining here too.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)
  • I have had a CRAPPY DAY.

    It has rained.

    ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY

The dogs are damp Mum is fed up but most of all I am a !!!!ing misery bucket of whingyness.

I went to do my room, but just go overwhelmed. I have to dust it every week and I haven't as I have been thinking I would paint it - how bloody long have I been saying that!?????

Unfortunately between the weather going away and a few other things I haven't done it. so now it is a dirty untidy hovel.

Now I can cope with clutter but it was horrible. so I gave up. got upset and essentially in a true depressive style went to bed for a couple of hours.

I am so miserable! really the rain, the mess the fact that I let on to Mum I was having a bad day and she said oh you don't normally let things get to you made me realise how much I hide my feelings living here - the urge to go to bed was impossible to avoid after that. Plus Mum is now sad cos I am sad. Which just makes me feel guilty.

I am going to walk the dogs. in the pouring rain! going to popular! they hate the rain.

I think when I get back I will spend the evening in my room.... try to make some difference.
