I have tried Snaggles's Spreadsheet!
it was a bit of an eye opener. I had obviously worked out my outgoings but not down to the last penny. I was very general and rounding up for the most part.
I have saved about 480 a month for the last 4 months, which is obviously great and should have about 513 left after everything is paid. which at the moment is going on the card. ha. well let me rephrase that! It should go on the card.
and at a minimum I should be paying off 205 to the CC to pay it off by the end of the deal.
so my 150 estimate is out.
oo forgot to say went to the bank to tidy up accounts, closed some more unnecessary savings accounts. And asked about mortgage........doesn't seem too bad, I have an excellent credit rating and really need to save as much as possible. it is a ridiculous sum of money, 25,000. but I have seen other people pay off or save up more. hmmm
so tired! must sleep XXXNevertheless she persisted.0 -
Hehe.
I need to save up a similar amount to be able to buy a house. I estimate it will take me around 20 years. :rotfl:
A client at work the other day was telling me about her daughter, who was getting married and buying a house with her partner at the age of 48. She seemed rather bemused by the fact that someone would have got to that age without having been married for years and years. I nodded and smiled.
You're saving loads - don't be too hard on yourself. I jumped on the property ladder when I was 24 (110% mortgage - those were the days)...was pushed off the ladder when I was 27 due to my divorce and it took until I was 39 before we managed to get enough together for a deposit.
You will get there. Honest.
Wish I still had that first mortgage - £160 pm compared to the £700 pm now!"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Mr SA was just 19 when we took out our first mortgage. 97% and the house was £16000. Imagine trying to get a mortgage at 19 nowadays! Thankfully paid off now.
How are you doing with the challenge Buffy? My next mini 10 day challenge starts tomorrow. I've succeeded with the paying off debt target but failed on the losing weight part on mini challenge 1. Only 90 days to go.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
Will come back to mortgage discussion in a sec, need to up date as per SA's request
1. Write the last essay for Masters.....kind of forgot about it!
hmmm. this could be a problem.
2. Finish my Tefl course
Rationally cannot start this till the essay is done.
3. De-clutter and reorganise the whole house.
Although I haven't done much, am in the process of doing the garden - walked home today assessing people's gardens and houses - want that, would live here, wouldn't live here etc ! Also am trying to do more in general of putting things away. So am ok with that.
Plus Mum was finally persuaded of something I thought would be a good idea re Conservatory! so that should happen soon!
4. Be good at my job - be organised, confident.
Well have done some work this week, am pleased with that.
5. Lose two stone. - make a start on this - dog walking and trying to eat as many whole foods as possible.
Have walked the dogs more regularly - they like it whilst we are out but not so much at home, it makes them so tired think it will work better when I am at work and going to bed early. Mum is doing her best to stop me!
6. Drive on the motorway
Car is having an MOT. Might need a service BUT I have some money saved! Miracle!
7. Write. everyday.
yep.
I am feeling ok about things so far.

Ahem.
So today was busy, went to the dentist, bottled it but on the plus side no charge, kind dentist. Also booked eye test (FREE!) as need new glasses. I am budgeting 200 pounds for 2 pairs. It will go on the CC and be paid off from September's pay.
Day was just annoying, couple of examples of people being !!!!!!. And yeah not my greatest day!
This summer has been really good to be honest. made a few decisions, start a new job and have almost got through moneywise. I have some lovely friends. There is lots to do.
A home of my own is now the long term aim. Debt then savings then mortgage. It will happen.

I've been so impressed with your dog-walking. Are the dogs enjoying it? Mine used to go nuts when she heard me getting her lead. If she thought she'd been waiting too long, she's just go and get it for me, put it on my knee and look at me pitifully. :rotfl:I'm a Money and Debt Adviser for a homelessness and housing charity in Scotland. they do get excited and they LOVE going over the fields but it causes Mum a fair bit of anxiety which they pick up on when they come home, so often they aren't eating their dinner and it is a bit of a pain. This is why I gave up before - for any animal lovers reading this, they get one walk a day with mum but I think they get a bit stir crazy so wanted to walk them again. I am trying to ride out the tension but it may be difficult with the new job. We shall see
Our old dog would fetch his lead. He was amazing tho.
