I always compare myself to others and think 'how do they do it...I'm so rubbish!' However, we never see the frantic stuff behind the scenes!

Lol - that reminded me of the analogy of the graceful swan gliding along the water - but if you looked under the water the feet are frantically waddling away

At work drinks one evening ages ago, I got talking to a chap who said he realised I was like the swan - I appear cool, calm and collected but am frantically scrabbling around away from what other people see. At which point I pointed out I was probably more like a duck than a swan :p:rotfl:

  • Hi Buffy

I understand the 'regroup' thing for starters!:)

I always compare myself to others and think 'how do they do it...I'm so rubbish!' However, we never see the frantic stuff behind the scenes!

Our job directly has a self esteem knock on effect unfortunately in these times....a roller coaster!

Very jealous of your film watching pretend marking day! :D Most mornings I wake and think for a second..can I actually do this today  particularly on little sleep. Always pull it together by saying ' got to pay the bills!'

Take care...you are certainly not alone x

    RR x

There are so many of us teachers here, makes laugh sometimes and other times makes sad, I would LOVE to meet a teacher who handles the pressure, the work load. All my friends in RL are knackered and only to be found under a pile of work.

I must say was DREADING going back today, had resignation letter written and everything. Just as my safety net, a way out.

And then EVERYONE was really nice to me. So nice I nearly cried. Things are weird there. good weird but weird none the less.

and the marking is just reaching impossible amounts!

as I am also born to fight clutter I have nicked Chicken noodle's idea re selling everything to pay off the debts. Can do that now Mum is off on holidays.
    - she left today btw X

Hi Buffy - hope your mum doesn't come back to an empty house! :)

Hope you're feeling a bit more upbeat today. Lack of sleep can make you feel rotten. Some people can get by on just a few hours, I'm not one of them unfortunately. Sounds like you need a lot of sleep too. Never compare yourself to anyone else - we all all unique! Concentrate on what you are good at (and don't say nothing!).

It's great that people start out on these diaries to help them clear debt then end up sharing their problems. There's always someone in the same boat. Venting on here definitely makes you feel better.

It's an amazing place, I do seriously wonder what would have happened to me if I had never found it.

and yes SA I think you might be right on the sleep front. Although the crying over tonight's tv has lessened the headache.

Actually, this is a pretty okay way of looking at it. I'm having a very 'meh' spell at work. I don't hate it, but I'm not inspired at the moment and so that makes me bored, and the cycle continues. I've segmented my week (roughly) now to get myself thorugh it: Monday is an admin and meetings day, Tuesday is ..well.. just Tuesday, Wednesday ("hump day" - ie middle of the week :D) lunchtime is the pivotal point in my head, Thursday is looking forward to Friday, and Friday is nearly the weekend. Okay, I should just do something I love instead of compartmentalise my working life like that but while this job pays the money and neither work or I change that, I've conditioned myself to break it up that way to make it more bearable :)

I do this, Monday and Tuesday are the WORST, Wed seems ok but can be tough and Thursday and Friday are good. It is wishing my life away but at the moment that is how I am managing. Waiting for the magic weekend when I catch up on everything!

    ok bedtime now.

    ooo I spent 9.20 in M and S!

chicken for the dogs - upset tummies again and also added to my lunch

    bread for me

and nuts for me - for lunch

nearly the weekend right? Can't believe it is two weeks till pay day!!

    thanks all

Today was really nice, lots of good stuff happened! Saw my part time friend - as in she works part time, she will hopefully become a lovely friend! and she gave me a new pencil case( sort of an in joke), and I chatted to a few people, I felt MUCH better today - headache fully gone and nice lessons, good kids.

I came home - had lovely chat with my neighbour and went to a planning meeting on a local school - how exciting......nice head tho.

then I walked the dogs. going great - doing a walk run thing which they love and then I fell over!

Misjudged a kerb in the dark and went smack down on my knee and hand and WOW it hurt.

now from the comfort of my sofa I can laugh but at the time I just burst into tears! Had ripped my tights* and grazed my knee and cut my hand. the dogs did not leave me tho, looked quite confused and licked my face!

I managed to get myself up - really hard when your hand is bleeding and you don't quite know what is happening and your inner 9 yr old has taken over. I am fine with other people's blood but not good with mine at all.

Poor dogs! kept tilting their heads at me!

any how two cups of tea, some bread and soup and then some matchmakers and I am much better!

Not done any work but will attempt an early night. I don't think I spent any money....oh yes I did, pants 9 pound on the book club thing at work.

    hope all is well

Really good to hear you had a good day. Sometimes, things like a book club are worth a spend. It sounds like your new work place is much nicer!

Hope you're not too battered after your tumble Buffy! Apart from that it sounded like you had a nice day for once - trust there to be a fly in the ointment!
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)
  • Hope you have recovered today. Love that you were wearing work stuff and trainers though, that's so something I would do!! Xx
