  • Nah, nothing wrong with being relieved that you're not the only one to be exhausted!

Excited to hear about people's scans! I have the booking in appointment tomorrow and DH is keen and coming too.

t2d: I haven't had to tell anyone outside family yet other than an unimpressed masseuse over the phone. Sounds like something to look forward to. People I've known with cancer have said the sympathetic head tilt is pretty irritating too.

Achievement of the day - had the day off as did DH so went to a 11 o'clock showing of the Lego movie. Just the kind of cheerful, brainless fun I needed! The nausea has really kicked in over the past couple of days (linked to being tired I think) so spent the entire movie slowly eating pic'n'mix to falsely raise blood sugar levels. And I didn't need a nap!

    Exercise?

    Hahahahahahahahhaha! :rotfl: :rotfl:

I am so utterly drained and knackered that I feel dizzy walking up the stairs. I had to completely change my last lesson today as I physically could not stand up in front of the class for an hour. I felt like I would pass out.

I am really hoping it will pass and I will get the burst of energy they talk about in the second trimester. Right now I am gaining weight like a crazy person. All I do is eat as it is the only thing that staves off the nausea (apart from last week when I could barely keep down water, but that has gone now) and I am lumpy and gross. I really am getting pretty huge already...

I am just going with it right now. I figure that this won't last forever and if I am able to keep functioning and going to work, then I will do what I need to do to cope - even if that involves eating everything in sight, and spending most of the time I am not at work being basically horizontal!
  • Ditto Daisiegg - I am all about eating. I too am praying for a burst of energy. I have pre-booked holiday for end of April with a girlfriend and need my energy levels up!

Ladies, can you please check what exercise is safe for you to do? I was told not to cycle but your doctor might have a different opinion.

Today whenever I've walked even up a flight of stairs I've been out of breath. More nausea and tiredness making it hard to concentrate. Plus a cold on top. I've just come back from acupuncture so hopefully it will help.

WTDN, good luck with your scan.

  • I've joined the local pool but am going to wait until the consultant says it's ok to go. With hindsight maybe I shouldn't have joined on a whim without thinking it through...lol.

For all the ladies waiting for exemption certs- i got mine from my GP, filled it in at reception and they sent it off. You don't have to wait for the booking in appt. Also the paperwork says that you don't have to wait for the cert to arrive- just tick you're pregnant on the px/ dentist form and the nhs check that you're not commiting fraud... I still haven't got my cert but am thinking the dentist can't wait much longer, pregnancy is making my teeth and gums fall to bits! Think I need a filling.

Re the dentist - I didn't actually get anything done today as they needed to do an x-ray and I was told that unless it was an emergency and massively painful that I should wait.

I was also told no cycling, but I'm glad I'm not the only one too knackered to do any exercise! Good solid nap on the tube today!! Woke up at my station and had to leap up suddenly when I realised.
  • I've looked into the cycling thing quite a bit and can find no medical evidence to say why you shouldn't. It's more about [some] doctors/nurses thinking that cycling is dangerous - none of those I've spoke to have been cyclists themselves. As a daily cyclist pre-pg I would literally go insane not getting any exercise at all, but am listening to my body and not doing it as regularly and not sticking to an exercise schedule at all (unusual for me). I would really urge anyone who wants to cycle to question the reason for not cycling if a doctor tells you not to. I have adjusted my riding style slightly, ie not squeezing through gaps, hanging back more for idiot drivers to so their thing, not going as fast, making sure my road position keeps me as safe as can be. Check out cycling accident stats. And also check out information on the benefits of exercise for baby and you. Guess it's an individual decision, but as cycling is my main form of transport it'd be weird not to. Plus it *is* exercise but doesn't really feel like it, so I'm staying fit and healthy, just not as much as normal!

Swimming is obviously good- but recently it's felt like too much effort to put my costume on!!!!

  • The main advice re exercise is not to push yourself, and to do similar activities as pre-pg.

  • I Asked midwife about Zumba and her advice was as long as you don't get knocked or overheat! Haven't managed yet as been so tired...

Ps watching 1 born every minute - not sure this is such a good idea!
