Ooo how lovely Rainbow, I used to be quite tempted by a private scan, even after I had my emergency one at EPU, so I have seen the heartbeat and I know it's in the right place, still considered it though! I've stopped thinking about it for a few days, which is like a lightyear in pregnancy terms. Have you told your parents yet?
I am having an internal struggle with myself about whether to say something at work at the moment. I have been feeling worse and worse for a couple of weeks now and I don't know how much longer I can go on. I've been bringing up stomach acid on my commute home because I can't spend an hour in the car and can't get through traffic (thank god it's dark...), and all afternoon I just want to curl up and wake up at 12 weeks. I'm just retching and feeling so so sick, headachy, needing to wee, all afternoon. My hips and back are "popping" every time I get up (nice!), and I still get my dizzy spells. At some point I fear I won't be able to hide it; I'll faint or puke in the middle of the office! I'm 9+2, my scan is 12+4.
What're the odds that if I pour all of this out to my colleagues and boss, I'll instantly lose all my symptoms and be totally fine? :rotfl:0 -
Glad scan went well rainbow. Sorry you're feeling so sicky LavendarBee hope it does ease soon.
Luckily OH doesn't get morning sickness really. She feels nauseas at points through the day, usually if she gets too hungry - which then puts her off food. But I think last pregnancy she was only sick once and that was at 19 weeks!
We had an early scan at 10 weeks last year because she had a bit of bleeding. All was fine was nice to have the extra reassurance even if it was scary at the time!
So we told parents at that point since we'd had to tell each of our bosses anyway. Hope to wait til scan which should hopefully be just before Christmas. Might be nice to save it for telling them then :xmastree:Mortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)

I thought about revealing all at Christmas too, I'll be 15 weeks though, I think families might be a little put out by that. If my sickness can possibly hold out til my scan, then I'm telling work straight away and my sports team too (currently only my coach knows, health and safety and all that. Also the fact I haven't been training for 2 weeks as the evenings and afternoons are my worst times. "Morning" sickness my backside!).
Christmas reveals sound so lovely and straight forward though, scan pictures in Christmas cards - job done!0 -
She's got a sore arm now! Flu jab done.
Next week booking appointment, looking forward to finding out when the scan will be.Mortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)

OH had booking appointment. Sounds like she had a nightmare with them taking blood. Assistant looks to have out needle in the wrong place, couldn't get blood and OH ended up going all dizzy and having to lay down for half an hour!
Was fine the second attempt when the midwife did it.
Got our scan for 4 weeks today.
OH won't be at work as her school is breaking up for the holiday the day before. I will be at work though and we'll need parents to look after DS while we go to the scan.
BUT we don't want to tell them what's happening if we can avoid it as we want to keep it secret still until after the scan.
Need to think up some way to explain why I'm coming home from work at lunchtime, collecting OH then going somewhere for a couple of hours.Mortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)

Freddie- do you need to pick oh up? Could she not meet you down the road, then they won't know that you have finished early and maybe your wife could either say she has to pop into work so need them to look after Fred, or maybe say she is meeting with some friends/ colleagues for a pre Christmas catch up.0

My scan in 2 weeks today. Longest. Two. Weeks. Ever.
DH has agreed to come home early that week (he's normally home Friday-Sunday evening) so has 2 days leave. I was just going to pop out of work, but then found I had 2 days leave left and there's a "use it or lose it" policy. So I've taken the same two days off so we can do lots of breathing and staring wide eyed in shock afterwards together. No-one knows where we're off to either0 -
lol we thought up loads of different scenarios but most wouldn't stand up to scrutiny! Scan is a 1pm
I think we'll say that I got dates wrong and actually my school is also breaking up on the Wednesday.
When I leave school at lunchtime I'll change into normal clothes.
I'll come back home - as far as parents know i'd just popped out to the shops.
Collect OH.
My birthday is the day after so we can say - when asking them if they can look after him that afternoon - that we're going to see a film or something like that.
Just we'll need to ask in advance so they keep that day clear - but we hoped to tell them the good news in special way.
We've never been able to do that. First time was bad news, second time we had to tell them because we were going for emergency scan due to OH bleeding. So it would be nice to be able to tell people on our own terms!Mortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)
