Hello all
Just got my BFP yesterday. My calculations say I am 3+6, due 01 01 17. Need to ring GP on Monday. I thought it was too soon yesterday but the internet advice said ring as soon as you know
JustMe - I am going to a wedding when I will be 10weeks and I am worrying about it already. They are providing a free bar the night before and I'm worried I will be caught out not drinking, we will certainly try to do what you did. I would rather tell everyone beforehand so there is less pressure and it is OH's best friends after all and this is only a handful of people, the rest will be strangers who I wouldn't need to hide from. OH however wants to wait until safe period before we tell anyone. I would also hate for the news to come out on the day and and steal the bride's thunder
Also worried my dress won't fit - I bought a size bigger for my potential belly but didn't even think about my boobs. How have people grown in this period? Stories please0 -

Sorry to tell you but my boobs had grown already! Can you drink soft drinks in the spirit glasses so it looks like your drinking?

Yeah I think I will try that Psycho, will see what OH wants to do though. We are still in discussion stages about telling people. Whilst I want to keep it to close friends only, these are his so it's up to him0

Congrats Rachylou. I am sure it'll be fine. I don't think people really pay attention to what you're drinking especially if they see you with a drink in your hand at some point! Think I am just paranoid.
We decided that we wanted to wait till after the scan to tell people. It's been hard not telling people but mostly because I hate lying.
Going to a hen do later. If anyone notices I am not drinking I'll say I've not been well. If they guess I'll just say we're not saying anything yet and hopefully that'll shut them up. Have been more worried about this as the DH won't be there to help me hide it! See being paranoid again.
Psycho - my scan is just under two weeks away. Seems like we've been waiting ages!0 -
I'm the same regarding the lying Justme. However I have made everything more complicated by telling lots of people about TTC. I soon regretted it as I just didn't think it through. So on recent occasions where I have cancelled on a night out or drove somewhere, everyone has asked questions. Of course I was not lying then...it is probably all making a bigger deal about it than what it actually is and I bet most don't bat an eyelid or have the common sense to realise and not be rude and ask (that's what I would do).0

Congratulations Rachylou! It's lovely to have you here.
I'm having a rough first trimester so far. I'm only 8 weeks but I've already had 3.5 weeks of such terrible indigestion and reflux, from morning to nightime, that I've had to go on Omeprazole. Just as that started to improve things the sickness and exhaustion has begun. Then there's the whole trying to carry on as normal, hiding all these symptoms, while not telling people. Plus the worry that things won't be good when the scan finally happens, which is still ages away. Roll on the second trimester which is the best.
I've told close family and friends, as last time I felt bad when some colleagues guessed before I'd even told my sister. So I don't want that happening again, plus if we get bad news these are the people who I'd tell so why keep it secret.Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0 -
Thanks Kynthia. Nice to see some names I know too :j
I suffer from acid reflux normally but stopped my meds when TTC and so far have been fine. I am gearing up for it coming back with a vengance.
I will be telling my close friends and my mam, may leave siblings until later on as there is no chance of them discovering beforehand due to the times we see eachother and the things we do (never alcohol related). My friends and my mam will be there for me whatever happens and provide support. Leaving OH's friends and family up to him but we'll discuss it all this weekend.
A friend of mine recently went through a MC and she had told a lot of people and having to explain it was awful, especially when some gave her the cold shoulder through not knowing how to act or what to say. I have learned from this so won't tell anyone I wouldn't feel comfortable around in the unfortunate event of any problems.
Hope your symptoms improve soon. It must be hard to hide them. My cousin said she had an awful time but no-one guessed and she just tried to use the toilets furthest from the office and blamed a virus etc etc. I am lucky that I have a lot of health issues like IBS, acid so I can probably get away with it - and I'll probably tell the one person who shares with me as she is pregnant too and I've already confided alot0 -

CongratulationsI wouldn't be surprised if your chest got a lot bigger once you were 6-8 weeks! Everyone is different though.

I never noticed much difference in my last pregnancy. Although I ended up needing to buy softer bras due to becoming more sensitive. Plus it's recommended you change to non-wired bras so as to not interfere with the changes developing in preparation of breastfeeding. Although I should probably leave that topic for the 12-24 week thread. XDon't listen to me, I'm no expert!0
