  • Welcome and huge congratulations to the newest members of this thread.

Apologies for being away for the last weekish, I have been with family and sorting out funeral stuff.

Booking in went OK last week - although I have a very high BMI which puts me at a higher risk. I knew I was a little overweight but didn't think I was a bad as what they were saying. She then decided to do my blood pressure after and wondered why it was so high. So I am booked on with the doctor tomorrow to have it taken again now that I have calmed down. Scan booked in for 27th which seems ages away.

My nausea/wretching has now evolved to full blown sickness. And whoever called it morning sickness was probably male as its a lie as its all day *rant over* sorry for that. On top of the sickness I have bloating and exhausted all the time and hubby thinks it's a good idea to laugh at me when I run to the bathroom or moan if I have fallen asleep watching something and he has to rewind it back.

Charming, just remind him exactly what your body is doing!! I'm very lucky so far that I haven't been sick but I still have to remind Hubby that I sometimes feel rubbish because of it!

Luckily his mum still has a cot and Moses basket etc from when he was little

Depending on the age of the cot it is worth buying a newer one.. old ones might still be painted with lead based paint which is highly toxic. A moses basket might be ok but may also be unravelling.. I'd hate to think of the baby falling through because the threads holding it together had deteriorated... check it all very carefully!

You can get a decent travel cot for £25-£30 so it isn't worth the risk if you're unsure!

Good point... But knowing my mother in law it'll no doubt be in immaculate condition. We aren't allowed to put a glass on any surface without a coaster :) I'm sure she will buy new if required.

Mrs_Rachel I always fall asleep in front on the TV now. Luckily the OH is ok with this, though he is a bit grumpy at the weekend when I fall asleep around 10! He usually stays up a bit later though. I can't really help it though!

Got my booking appointment next week. Which seems weird because it feels like it is ages ago that I arranged it!

South.. my daughter had horrific HG with both of hers from about 6 weeks until a couple of hours after the birth.. she weighed less after having the baby than she did before she was pregnant both times.. She had 3 lots of medication to control it which didn't work fully but did reduce it and several hospital admissions. One of the drugs is known to rarely cause problems with the baby's heart and she had a few dopplers run because the 2nd had a heart arrythmia.. but it is the same as her dads and grandmothers so probably not related to the medication but they do keep an extra close eye on it when you are medicated.. She is a member of a couple of HG groups. Despite my daughter losing so much weight and the constant sickness the babies were both perfectly healthy and 7lb 13 and 8lb 6.. so they weren't even small!

Most days just getting out of bed was more than she could manage.. it is totally debilitating and noone ever understands unless they've been there.. just stay resting, regardless of how lazy you feel.. too much moving just sets the sicking off again!!

It's funny how many women with HG have bouncing babies, goes to show how resilient they are.

Today I have literally sat on the sofa and done nothing. I already feel better for it. Not cured, but I obviously needed a day of doing nothing at all. I'm now dealing with the side effects of some of the medications which isn't fun, but I can keep down fluids and that is definitely progress. Both medications I'm on have some small risks to baby but they're gestation dependent and I'm satisfied that the benefits outweigh the risks at the moment.

I really feel for your daughter!

  • Just want to clarify, the laughing and moaning is out of love (well the laughing is out of love, the moaning is part love part annoyance :p ) hubby offered to hold my hair and rub my back as I was throwing up this morning - must be true love lol.

Went to the doctors today and had my blood pressure redone and I am pleased to say that it has settled down to a normal reading.

    Hope everyone is doing well!

Had my booking in appointment today. Went well (for the most part!). Am considered low risk, thought my BMI is a little high so need to take extra folic acid until 12 weeks.

Urine sample was clear of sugar and proteins. Had to do it there, even though I planned to do it before I left but I just couldn't go. Not sure if it was just nerves :embarasse

Blood pressure was ok, which I am glad about as it is usually a little high when I get it checked.

Midwife had fun trying to get blood. I have shy veins so she tried both arms. Half way through poking my second arm to find a vein I felt dizzy so had to lie down. Luckily she was able to get something and I didn't have to go to the hospital to have them done. I can deal with the needles and the blood but the poking of veins always makes be feel sick.....probably why mine are so shy :rotfl:

Now to wait for the scan

Also got the bounty pack thing, has anyone else signed up to get the three free packs? Am tempted to get mine when I go to town on Thursday.
  • Justme that does not sound like a pleasant blood test experience!

I'm not too bad, annoyed that my dresses don't fit my boobs so got to go clothes shopping for a hen do next week, and a wedding in May. It's frustrating as no point in maternity clothing just yet but got to get something! My scan is next week, it's coming round so far. I've still not been too bad except feeling a bit rough occassionally... although the other day someone at work had a smelly lunch and i had to leave my desk or I would have been sick! It was awful!
