  • Hello All,

Been shopping with my pregnant best friend today, she is 11.5 weeks. We popped into mothercare to check out the prams etc.

Were told about a deal that's available in January only due to sale prices. Basically, 'The Baby Plan' you pay 10% refundable deposit on a pushchairs/prams/car seats (must spend over £100 but easily done!) this then holds the item at the sale price for 6 months - during which time you can make payments or if you change your mind you get a refund on it. My friend ended up purchasing her pram/car seat today for only £430 instead of nearly £650 because of the sale. Even better she's only paid £43 deposit! Also, if you spend over £100 you get an extra 15% off until end of tomorrow.

Although, I'm only 6 weeks pregnant, I must admit this is a stonkingly good detail and myself and OH are tempted to place a refundable deposit just to hold the sale price!

Thanks to Sunshine, Samtoby & Lushlifesaver for your comments - it's reassuring to know I'm not the only one who feels like this.

Wangdoodle- yes we've booked a private scan for 16th Jan when I think I'll be 8+3 by then. Called them on Fri to try to pull it forward to next week as we (I'm) so impatient but they only do late night Thursday scans every other week so we've stuck with what we've got.

We're planning on telling our parents after the scan, subject to everything being ok at that stage. It's a bit different for me as both my parents are disabled through ill health and Dad's terminally ill so we have to support them a huge amount.

We'd been TTC for just over a year and I was upset that it wasn't looking like it would happen before we run out of time with Dad so to find out we are expecting is such a wonderful gift and I just hope everything goes well with Gelly Bean and Dad's health so they get to meet each other :0)

Off out tonight to HBs colleagues' emigration party - they're off to Oz in a couple of weeks and his wife is a midwife so she's already got a job lined up - what I wouldn't give to be able to tell the world and have a deep and meaningful with her tonight so I can find out what I've let myself in for!

    Happy Saturday ladies :0)

I feel soooo lazy (tbh I am quite lazy at the best of times) but when I am not working I either want to be napping or just sitting around watching tv, guessing part of this is due to it being wet and miserable outside but i am defo feeling less energetic through pregnancy, not really up for socialising.

I normally get cabin fever if I stay in all day but right now I could stay in the house for a week just laying down :o

    Anyone else like this?

    I feel the same lilmissmup!

We found out we are expecting on xmas eve, so it's been nice having some down time to get used to it and how slightly odd my body is now. I normally enjoy getting out and about, but at least 4 days in the last week I've just lounged around! I don't always feel mega tired until evening time, and after the initial shock I've managed to sleep for at least 10-12hrs a night which is unlike me.

I'm the same lilmissmup I've spent the last couple of months vegging on the couch while OH looks after me. I'm usually pretty active and hate sitting around but I've had zero energy. It's just staring to improve a bit now, probably because I've had a nice rest over Xmas, but it's back to work tomorrow

I remember your story from TTC Gelly. Hugs, you've had such a tough time. Good luck for your scan I really hope it all works out for you x x

Sounds like an awesome deal Mothercare are doing alipops, I'm far too much of a wuss to risk making big purchases this early though. It's stupid really, I'm normally very rational but I guess my hormones have made me into a big paranoid, superstitious, anxious mess!

I totally understand Wangdoodle, I had the same conversation with my mum about superstition etc. But we came to the conclusion it was just a refundable deposit, nothing will be delivered until about 4 weeks before the due date. Also, to be honest, the savings were too good to miss out on. My mum also put the order in her name and to her address haha.

That sounds like a great idea to put it in your mum's name alipops. I think I'd be alright with that as, according to my preposterous made-up rules on how early pregnancy karma works, it'd only jinx it if it was in my own name. I actually can't believe I just said that, I want to hit myself for being such an irrational idiot! :wall:

Isn't it weird how these things take over us? I'm the least bit superstitious person normally, but since I found out I'm pregnant I remember all sorts of strange old wives tales/superstitions!

I've got to tell my boss tomorrow, and it's making me feel queasy already! I said to my husband, I'm going to tell the boss and then leave for home at the end of the day straight after. haha.

Good luck telling your boss. I was dreading telling mine too, but he was actually really great and I felt much better once I'd fessed up.

Telling my mum, however, I am not looking forward to at all. I don't think she'll be very pleased with me. She tends to be a bit over dramatic at the best of times but my family is going through a difficult time at the moment and mum is getting really stressed about it. She will see this as just another thing she has to cope with.

Still, can't put it off forever I suppose. I think she's already a bit suspicious.

The two people I am dreading telling is my boss and my mother.....my boss can be a complete a$$hole and I don't have a good relationship with my mother as shes got a lot of mental health issues which make her not a very nice person.......I am not going to tell her until I have to see her which will prob be end of March.....:o
