Congratulations Flutter, that's lovely news :j

I had a private scan at 9+2 and saw a strong heartbeat and a lovely little bean and the sonographer(?) said all looks positive no concerns etc... but I think seeing and hearing the heartbeat hasn't made me worry any less and I don't think a lack of symptoms help lol Still waiting for my nhs scan date :( I'm 11+3 today

    Quick question caffeine?

Is anyone having more than 200mg of caffeine a day? I've been really good limiting my caffeine intake up to now to 1-2 cups a day, but its so cold in work that I just want to drink copious amounts of tea. I've tried caffeine free tea and redbush but I cant drink them... The redbush actually make me sick.

There was no limit of caffeine 10/13 years ago when I had my two sons. I know the advise is there for a reason but DH keeps telling me it'll be fine.
  • rinroo - I somehow have pretty much cut out caffeine completely! I used to drink 6-8 cups of coffee a day but now the smell turns me. I have the occasional can of diet coke if I need a boost. I'm not missing the warm drinks oddly. What about fruit teas? They take awhile to get used to but some are tasty.

I've just downed my 5th 1pint mug of tea today... I've never restricted anything.. if I want to eat or drink it I will.. thankfully I don't drink alcohol very often.. once every 2+ years doesn't count apparently..

I don't like tea or coffee anyway, but I Did tend to drink a glass or two of Pepsi max most days, but since my bfp I've actually completely cut it out, and didn't find it hard to do.

I had a couple of short but sharp pain earlier (each one very brief), but now it's making me worry, I had been fairly ok with everything until now!!

    Hi everyone,
    May I join you?
I posted on the Trying to Conceive forum for a while last year but went into lurking mode after some changes in mine and OH's finances meaning we put ttc on hold for a while.
We have been NTNP for a while now and nothing had happened. I had been late on a couple of cycles recently so this time was not expecting it to be any different so I was quite shocked when I took a HPT a couple of days ago and got my BFP!
This will be our second child (DS has just turned 3).
    I think I'm 4+6 at the moment :)

Welcome dinglefoot and blueneleh. Congratulations on your bfps.

Blueneleh my DD is turning 2 next month and I'm so excited for her to have a sibling. Do you have a gender preference as I'd love another girl as I think it's lovely to have a sister and I hope tge pair would be close. However my OH would love a boy so it would be lovely to be able to give him that.

I can't believe it's only been a week since my bfp so now I'm looking into private reassurance scans as I don't think I can wait. However I'd rather wait to get one at 9 weeks as I worry about getting false reassurance any earlier. So that's 4 weeks to wait.

Rinroo I had forgotten about tracking my caffeine intake. Because I don't drink coffee I guess it's not on my radar. However the NHS website gives so rough figures for tea and fizzy drinks which is handy. Would hot chocolate be a substitute, or just hot water and lemon as you could say you're detoxing if you're worried about arousing suspicion as it's supposed to be very good for your digestive system?
Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!

    Welcome dinglefoot & Blueneleh

I'll just go with how I feel regarding caffeine, i don't drink fizzy drinks although dh bought caffeine free coke yesterday - no idea why he needs caffeine free lol

I'll stick to my two cups of teas to be on safe side as the advise is so misleading regarding caffeine content in tea.

Kynthia: I'm on hot lemon water this morning and its strangely refreshing.
