Had my scan! Oh my gosh I am in LOVE! Could see fingers and toes, had its little feet crossed, bobbing about...wow. I don't think my partner knew it would look so "human" and he looked a bit overwhelmed, bless him. Im 11+6, had the nuchal fold test (it was 1.4mm, which I think is within normal range? but a letter along with the results from the blood test will confirm.) Didn't know I would be having a blood test so didn't have time to get myself worked up and for the first time in my life it didn't end in me lying hyperventilating so a good day all round. EDD of July 1st, makes all the slobbering/eating CONSTANTLY/nausea and insomnia seem worth it!

Hope everyone else is ok, Flutterby I would try and get an early scan if possible - you'll feel SO much better once you've seen the heartbeat and everything. Not good to be full of anxiety and stress, although I know it's impossible not to be xxx

    Congrats Dinky! :)

1.4mm is well within normal range. Anything over 3.5mm is cause for concern.

There'll use that result, together with the result of your blood test, to give you a combined risk rating. They quoted a 2 week maximum waiting time for me, but said they'd been much quicker recently. They were right, as my letter arrived in less than a week. And a friend of mine in another part of the country, had hers through in about 3 days.

  • How on Earth do people hid pregnancy longer than 12 weeks?

Went out for dinner last night and was sitting across from a 38 week pregnant lady, and beside a midwife and lactation consultant.. The topics of conversation was babies and child birth... I am scared with some of their stories!

I avoided the sushi and wasn't drinking and got the 'do you have something to tell me' from the pregnant lady.. Of course I said no but honestly, the next 2 weeks, it's going to be really difficult with various social outings...

I think I'm going to make up a UTI infection, at least it will cover why I'm not drinking and why I'm going to the bathroom 20 times a day.

Congrats Dinky on your scan! I'm counting the days down till mine

tata.. You just don't tell them.. I'm 11 weeks, was at my mothers yesterday, it is blatantly obvious and I never told her.. and I won't be telling her today either when I see her. I kept the last one from OH until 15 weeks.. he even saw me naked and still I didn't tell him, my mother was I was 31 weeks, my sister I was 28 weeks .. I just think it is no one elses business so no, I have nothing to tell them, (other than to keep their noses to themselves ;) ) I didn't put anything on facebook either until She arrived so got a lot of 'is she yours?' comments and 'I didn't know you were pregnant'.. haha ... I had so much negativity I decided I don't have to justify my choices and decisions to others so they can go hang. I'd even been out for dinner with my friend at 24 weeks and she had no idea.

Currently OH and DD1 know about this.. I didn't tell my oldest when I saw him yesterday, or my stepdad, mother or sister.. I don't know if it is viable so until I'd had a scan no one else will know. I can't be faffed with the untelling of people if it doesn't continue.

I have a concert ticket booked for 36+5 (14th June).... I have terrible PGP, crutches and prem babies... I'm just not going am I?? lol

  • Yeah Pigpen, I'm not telling people until I'm ready to tell. I'm more than happy to share my news with my family when I'm ready.

I suppose Irish culture is very centred around drinking etc and when your a girl and not drinking the questions come! We are only home for a week though so I should be able to get away with it!

Feeling fah today.. Plain foods are my friend! Took OH to see Star Wars before he's off out for a boys night.. So I'm in comfy PJs for the night!

Tell them you are becoming all Anglicised and not drinking :p .. that response would raise a hearty laugh with my Irish descent family members who are part fish!

  • I started bleeding yesterday. I was 11+2 yesterday so went to A&E. I had bloods done and urine test. The bloods came back alright hcg was 11,000. Pg test was positive. Now for tmi, it's only when I wipe and the first time was bright red and then went a brown colour. The Dr said she saw my cervix and it looked like old blood. She tried to get an appointment at the epu which was Wednesday morning but my antenatal scan is Wednesday afternoon anyway so just waiting for that.

It's scary and worrying I keep dreading going to the loo and feel helpless because there's nothing I can do. I don't wanna Google in case I read something I don't want to hear. The Dr said go back if the bleeding gets heavy or I start clotting which isn't a nice thought either.

its probably just from the placenta taking over supporting the baby.. they are new blood vessels and made in a short time not every one is perfect and they can bleed a bit.. I think we al do the paper-checking every time we wipe and dash to the lo if we feel a bit damp.. it's normal to fret over everything too.

I don't understand why A&E don't have portable ultrasounds.. they use them to detect internal bleeds to god knows why they don't just whizz them over to check a pregnancy.

Wednesday isn't so far away... keep busy xx

  • Ugh I have a stomach bug :( Been sick 4 times overnight. Feel like death warmed up.

From what I've googled it's OK, I just need to make sure I try to keep hydrated.

Not what I need when I'm feeling rotten and tired anyways!

OMG.. you'd think I was a total rookie at this.. booking tomorrow and I REALLY don't want to go... Actually the fact I'm not a rookie is probably why I don't want to go lol..

I'm not nervous I'm just getting more irritated by the hour..

Can I change my mind?? And I've already misplaced the paperwork.. such a scattyhead!

I keep thinking scan appointment but that's not convincing me either!

Gelly, not heard from you for a while are you and your pickle ok?

    Flutter, hope you're feeling better

Athena.. hope all goes well tomorrow for you xx

  • Hi Pigpen, thank you - all ok here but no real news. Still vomiting every day but sometimes morning, sometimes evening and sometimes both although nothing yet today.

Officially 10+3 today and still waiting for a date for my 12 week scan which is likely to be around the first week of January.

Need to chase up my consultants secretary as my next appt to see her is 15 Feb (my birthday) and I should be about 18 weeks by then but not sure how long I need to be on all this extra medication for so need to get some answers before then.

Still knicker checking every time I go to the toilet, its just a normal thing.

Hope your booking appt goes well - let us know how you get on.

Flutterby - how are you feeling now? Has the sickness gone?

Make you laugh - being the good wife that I am, I bought hubby Star Wars tickets a few weeks ago for last night's showing at our new IMAX cinema. Bought them for him to go with a friend but he was adamant he wanted me to go too - went along and wow, pretty impressive cinema, massive screen in 3D and the sound was so loud - and I slept through over half of it :rotfl:

    Love to you all
