Sorry flutter, no suggestions here but it sounds really annoying! Hope someone can think of something for you.

5+2 today based on ovulation. Went to doctors yesterday to complete my midwife referral form, she said it's usually around seven weeks which is christmas, so there's every chance I'll have my scan before seeing a midwife!

Not had many symptoms yet, I'm thirsty constantly and have woken up to pee every morning about 5am. Oh and the bloat..... I'm still nervous but trying to take it day by day, hopefully with Christmas in the middle the scan will come round quickly.

Very happily married on 10th April 2013 :D

flutter.. try a mouth wash. I have a horrid metallic taste with my girls particularly and nothing got rid of that. Mouthwash helped a bit though.

Well my booking should have been today .. but is next Tuesday.. they ring and make scan appointment while you're there but I'm still looking at mid-January because there is no way there will be space on the 23rd and the only other day I can do is the 27th which is a Sunday so it will be too late for nuchal measurement again which I am concerned about .. and the private scan people didn't bother calling me back so I'm not going there either.. so no pic for the outlaws.. I am most unhappy. I'm just not going to tell them .. I can hide it for a few days easily enough I guess.. I was 19 weeks before they knew about the last one haha. I've even checked out the private places near the outlaws but for the exact same service they are approximately double the price!! Shocking difference! Obviously there are no poor people in Manchester area! .. I have considered speaking to OH's cousin who is a MW to see if she can get me sneaked in but that too seems unfair to those who need an emergency appointment.

Anyway.. life goes on.. what will be, will be and I will deal with it accordingly.

Off to deal with more important matters.. like a cuppa :)

Pigpen - how frustrating. I can't believe it's so difficult for you and the service from the private scanning companies is shocking, particularly seeing how much they charge for their appts.

Sorry flutter, no suggestions from me re the taste. The only thing I'm finding that works a bit is sugar free polos but you said they don't work for you.

Had my consultants appt this morning and had another scan - everything is still perfect but baby was sleeping - it's wonderful to see!

Consultant has discharged us from her recurrent miscarriage clinic but still wants to see me under her antenatal clinic on a Monday so I'll get a referral to that sometime soon.

Community midwife appt tomorrow and hospital midwife appt on Thursday then next appt will be the 12 week scan which should be around new year.

Nausea and sickness has totally ramped up - was sick last night when I tried to eat dinner and again this morning as I was tucking into my breakfast. Starting to feel a little rough again already today so that'll probably last the rest of the day now.

    Exciting times ahead we hope.

Aaaw Gelly.. I'm so utterly pleased for you :) Is this the furthest along you have ever got now?? Do you cry every time you see the baby on the scanner? I did when I was having DD1 after several losses, including her twin.

It is really frustrating.. the soonest I can make a scan after Christmas I'll be 14+6... and given when the BD happened maybe a few days more.. that would be 13th January.. 13+6 is the latest they can do a NT at NHS hospital... all I can think is there will be something wrong which could have detected sooner..

Anyway.. She has a name.. a first name.. OH can pick her middle name, maybe :p.. we have 3 girls there is no way he created a boy, I don't think he has a Y chromosome in him. My 13 year old was the last one to have a name before she arrived so I'm doing well... I'm going to be so stuffed if she's a he! We have never even discussed boys names other than me saying I would not use his granddads, dads or OHs name for my child... good job he can only make girls :p

Thanks Pigpen, yep this is the furthest we've got before but also its been good news every time we've had a scan and we've never had that before either.

Was sick again last night so that's twice yesterday, hoping that means I get a day off today.

I can't believe they can't scan you before nearly 15 weeks, surely you need to take this higher and complain. It doesn't always pay to "go with the flow", sometimes you have to get a bit stroppy to get what you need! Good luck X

Everything crossed for your rainbow baby xx

It's just because its Christmas really and they are shut so much.. and then we are away for 5 days.. but I am not saying we cannot visit OH's family at Christmas just for a scan.. that isn't fair on anyone but me. We then have a cluster of other appointments the week they go back to school and OH is at college so I couldn't get there.. it's a lot of coincidences really. Had I been able to make booking yesterday they may well have fit the scan in next week, but I couldn't, I could have made the earlier appointment at 10:15 but not the one they gave me at 11:30.. They other appointment they offer is 9:00 .. but I have a school run at 9 and nursery pick up at 11:50 so those 2 are out of the question..

I know ALL about stroppy... my notes say 'difficult and argumentative' (I say no a lot and ask a LOT of questions.. if they want a decision I want all the information possible so I can make an informed choice!!) .. and 'awkward and stubborn' .. basically I do not EVER do as I am told without a jolly good reason being given and them asking nicely, is please so hard to say? I've not even been for antenatals with the last 7 because they are pointless.. if I am feeling grotty I will contact them or GP or hospital, if I feel fine they can leave me alone.. they carry on like they are a legal requirement, which they are not.. I discharged myself and Pixie from hospital when she was born, because they had not done what they were supposed to do they expected me to stay in.. no chance! Its not my fault they are incompetent.. or that they threatened to put a woman with a stomach bug in the room with me and my phobia of vomit! .. I was not going to sit there and let them blindly infect me or Pixie so I insisted we left.. fewer germies at home! ... So yes, I have a bit of a reputation!!! I have a few demands this time though so may need to rein in my stroppiness a bit in order to get what I want.. more honey, less vinegar (and a personality transplant!)

  • Flutter, I have Hyperemesis and I'm under the care of a Professor at the RVI in Newcastle who has been studying it since 1994 - he said he sees excess saliva in almost all of his patients - I went to see him on Monday and he said actually you are not producing anymore saliva than anybody else, but your throat restricts swallowing it because it thinks youre going to vomit it back up. Seems strange as at the moment, my body seems to think I'll throw saliva back up but not KitKats/Boosts/Bacon Sandwiches or crisps!? Haha!! Anyway like you I'm spitting 24/7 with a horrible taste in my mouth and unfortunately I've not found anything that helps yet....boo.

I've got my 12 week scan (I had a scan at 7 weeks so I'll actually be 11+4 tomorrow according to that,) and I'm so excited but SO nervous.

I've also got an appointment with a consultant on the 30th December because I had a Lletz last year (procedure to burn pre cancerous cells from my cervix) so they need to scan and see if it's weakened my cervix, if it has I might need to have a stitch put it *vom*

:rotfl: Glad I'm not the only one shoveling food in my mouth!! Good luck for tomorrow.

I'm currently weighing up whether or not to have an early private scan... I am 8wks currently, and my scan isn't until 12.5wks. I had a miscarriage at 5wks earlier in year, before even seeing a midwife etc. Touch wood, no issues so far yet but I can't see how I will get through the next 4.5wks wondering what if? I'm losing sleep over it already.

  • Had my scan! Oh my gosh I am in LOVE! Could see fingers and toes, had its little feet crossed, bobbing about...wow. I don't think my partner knew it would look so "human" and he looked a bit overwhelmed, bless him. Im 11+6, had the nuchal fold test (it was 1.4mm, which I think is within normal range? but a letter along with the results from the blood test will confirm.) Didn't know I would be having a blood test so didn't have time to get myself worked up and for the first time in my life it didn't end in me lying hyperventilating so a good day all round. EDD of July 1st, makes all the slobbering/eating CONSTANTLY/nausea and insomnia seem worth it!

Hope everyone else is ok, Flutterby I would try and get an early scan if possible - you'll feel SO much better once you've seen the heartbeat and everything. Not good to be full of anxiety and stress, although I know it's impossible not to be xxx
