Afternoon all Hope everyone had nice weekends? I was feeling quite ropey on Saturday, went back to bed in the afternoon for a 2.5 hour nap which was lovely. Got an early night as well as we had a busy day yesterday and felt much better for it.

Sorry you're feeling rotten sweetilemon, I think most people's symptoms start to ease off as you go into the second trimester. No such luck for me last time, it went on until 16 weeks, so I'm not expecting to feel better any time soon.

I'm 11 weeks now, and feeling really annoyed about my scan being so late (13+3) especially as we're meeting up with our NCT friends next weekend and I want to tell them! We agreed we won't tell until after the scan though, especially after the mc (although they know about that).

sweetilemon, we're at about the same stage and I am experiencing the same thing - my symptoms had started to improve and then on Friday they took a nosedive and now I am feeling rotten again! Fingers crossed this is a just a last surge before the 12 week mark, and then we'll start to feel better! Getting a bit fed up with it now though, particularly as I am not showing yet or feeling any different other than the nausea, so I really want this phase over and done with so I can get on with enjoying the process a bit more!

Also, I was just wondering who everyone is taking with them to their scan(s)? Obviously OH is coming with me, but I have been wondering about my mum/MIL - my mum and I went with my sis to one of her scans and I wonder if she'll expect me to do the same? Or perhaps I should just invite them to the 20 week one instead? I'm not sure I want other people there to be honest but worried about offending anyone or making them feel left out, particularly as MIL only has sons so think she would appreciate feeling more involved.

Hi Bean83 When i told my mum about my 12 week scan she said she was booking the day off to come, I hadn't even asked her. I'm not one to beat around the bush so told her not to bother as it was something me and hubs was doing together, so basically she wasn't invited. I'm not close to the m-i-l so wouldn't even cross my mind to invite her along as well. Its a private and intimate process the first time you see your baby, I think should stay between the 2 of us.
Saying that my mum is getting on my nerves with baby talk, always asking about names and furniture and going part time to help with childcare. I know she means well but its sooo annoying and such early days, we don't even know if everything is ok yet. (i'm a little pessimistic after reading so many mc stories on these threads)

We didn't take anyone to our scans last time, and I don't think we will this time either.

Is it your mum's first grandchild me-charlotte? My MIL went totally over the top when I was pg with my DD, to be honest she hasn't really calmed down! Whenever we see her we get a bag of new clothes for DD, and she's recently bought a pushchair to keep at her house despite only having DD to stay once in a blue moon. It keeps her happy though, and we live far enough away that she can't be popping in all the time at least.

Thanks guys, you've made me feel less mean about not inviting them! I'd like it to be just me and OH really, so I think I'll just stick to that.

Hello all!

I am currently pregnant with my first, and up until now have been a lurker on this board, mind if I join?


I am 11 + 4, and have my scan this Thursday, which I'm incredibly excited about!

Oh, and it will just be me and my OH for the scan, no-one else knows yet. My maternity department charges £3 per print which is pretty steep! (I was going to try to photocopy it for the family)

Hi gale force, welcome!!

Just lost my last post so will make this shorter.

I'm just keeping the scans to myself and my husband, my MIL asked outright to come to one and my mum offered to come but only 1 person is allowed so don't want my husband to miss out. My SIL let my MIL go to both her children's scans so ill be seen as the mean one. What's new.

My MIL went mad about us not giving her one of our first scan pictures so I'm not even entertaining the thought of taking her to a scan! (we had four, but only two of them were decent - she couldn't understand why I wouldn't give her one when I couldn't give my mum one - she said she deserved a better one. Next time she's getting the smudged one!)
