Had our booking in appointment with the midwife a couple of days ago. All went pretty well but DW left with a feeling of being judged (by the system, not the midwife) As a long term smoker it's obviously been a massive thing for DW to stop smoking. Although being pregnant has made it very easy for her. The thing is as she smoked right up until the day we got the BFP she's only been smoke-free for 7 weeks. When it came to the blowing into the tube thing (sorry don't know what it's called) she blew a score of 7-10 which relates to a 'light smoker' and as such this as now been put on her handheld notes and a referral to smoking cessation has been made! She was absolutely mortified - even as a smoker she has always been very anti-smoking where babies and children are concerned so to have this on her notes is devastating for her. She even asked me if they thought she was lying about the giving up smoking. I've tried to explain that it's a case of the long term damage to her lungs showing but all she sees is that it says she is a smoker on her notes when she hasn't had a single one since knowing she was pregnant.

This is tough downhillfast, I am not sure when her results would improve on the puffer thing,maybe a couple of months then she would prove them wrong.

Yeah it is tough. She's an intelligent and proud woman but the thought that she is being categorised as someone more likely to be appearing on the Jeremy Kyle Show is horrible for her. When we started our journey of trying to get pregnant it was always the intention for her to give up smoking in advance but as it got closer to happening the potential added stresses for her on top of everything else seemed too much. We had saved enough money to have 3 attempts so had agreed that if the first attempt failed then she MUST give up smoking for any further goes. Amazingly we were lucky and caught first time and from the moment she saw that BFP the baby's health has come ahead of anything else as you would expect. I just wish the notes said something to reflect her new non-smoking status rather that heaping her in with any pregnant women that are still smoking.

Glad the scan went well DHF, what a relief. Sorry to hear about the smoking comments on the notes. Hope you come to an agreement with them in the next few weeks. Maybe they will realise when she attends smoking cessation and says she has already stopped.

Not much to report here. Still not heard from midwife yet.

I have had a few bouts of motion sickness lately, especially when I am driving rather than a passenger which is weird. Anyone else have this?

Hi devildolly, my sickness seems worse when I'm in the car (or on the train) but in the car it's when I'm a passenger and not when I'm driving ! I'm getting quite bored of feeling constantly sick now ! (but I know some of you have had far worse so must stay positive)

Downhillfast-if it was me I wouldn't go to the smoking cessation, I mean what's the point.

Re motion sickness janed9388 haven't really noticed my nausea gets any worse with this but everyone is different.

I was on strike this morning, went to the picket line to do my bit, bumped into my community midwife and she said get this pregnant lady on tv was surrounded by about 8 people, I quickly said I haven't told anyone yet and she looked all embarrassed. Luckily it wasn't within ear shot of my work colleagues.

Got my bloods appt today which is on Monday, one of my work days so just going to say to my supervisor that I need bloods done to check iron (which is true) and apologise for it being a work day. I will say I don't want to take my 2 year old with me for bloods hope that don't see thru my lies.

Was hoping to get my scan appt in post today but nothing :0( will wait till end of week and the. Chase if I have to as I am 10 weeks tomorrow.

Been lurking but couldn't not respond to this one. Please tell her not to worry about what her notes may say on the front. I was very upset when they did the puffer on me and I came out as a 4 and I had been quit smoking for weeks but as my partner smokes that was the reason the midwife gave for it still being so high. If they decide to test again it would come up as a normal one I guess once all the crap has worked it's way out of her system, for want of a better term. The puffer can also pick up if you have any faulty appliances at home and your breathing in fumes and don't no it so it may be worth getting those checked should it not come down. As long as she knows she's not smoking that's the main thing, some doctors are awful,about smoking etc. I know ppl who've smoked all through their pregnancies and apart from a message on the front of the notes and a referral to smoking cessation nothing else has happened. Lots of reassurance is needed atm with hormones running high i think good luck xxx
