Hi guys, I'm about 6 weeks now and the nausea is beginning! Stil pretty mild and it comes and goes but do wonder how I'm going to keep the pregnancy a secret at work! I definately feel a bit more sleepy than usual too. Really takes it out of you this growing a baby malarkey, all one gram of it at the mo!

hope your gp appt goes well PM, sounds like you could do with some support

    Evening all.

PM I hope you feel better soon and get all the support you need.

I've got my midwife booking appt next Tuesday and scan date 6 August :j

According to my LMP I'll be 12-13 weeks at the time of the scan but it will only be just under 10 weeks since conception. Is this normal? I suppose they will just ask me to come back if they can't see much?
  • It's normal sulphate. If they can't get the measurements they need (if you decide to have NT measurements) they'll just bring you back. I had a private scan at 9/10 weeks due to raging paranoia and it shocked me how baby like it looked!
  • Yes normal. All NHS services go by counting from the first day of your LMP and therefore you are not pg for the 1st two weeks of your pg! It's an imprecise science and is most accurate for those with 28 day cycles.

You should be able to see head, arms, legs etc :D

Good luck - I found it scary and exciting in equal measures, although admittedly the excitement was only after I knew everything was ok.

Good luck Nicky - this was about when my nausea started. Hope it stays mild and short!

    Congrats jammy

    Enjoy the dodgy tummies!

Oh no, what is making you think that? Hopefully you are just worrying over nothing and you will soon see a lively being in your belly. Good luck with it xxx

AFM, I am 7+4 and feel soooo rough today, not like morning sickness/pregnancy rough, but as if I might be coming down with something fluey. Keep turning the heating on at work co I'm freezing but it's not helping. Can't wait to get home to bed...

Hi ladies, can I join you please? I'm 5 weeks pregnant today and am absolutely terrified!

I came off my pill after 10+ years after reading that it took a while to get out your system. We did intend to start a family but when those 2 little lines came up it was utter fear that came instead of joy!

Is it normal to feel completely terrified? I'm worried I will eat the wrong thing or do something that could harm the baby; like fall over!

Add to that the feeling that my life will never be the same.

I really don't want to sound ungrateful as I know so many ladies will be desperate for a baby. And I have no thoughts at all of "ending" the pregnancy - I'm just in sheer panic!

Did anyone else get this worry? Is this a first trimester thing or is it just me? I don't want to speak to friends in case this isn't normal and they think I am going to be a terrible mum :(
  • We were ttc for 3 years and on the verge of IVF. I cried hysterically when I got my BFP partly out of disbelief, mainly out of pure terror! It's totally normal! :) I still feel scared now at 28 weeks and am somewhat overwhelmed by how life changing this is! :) I went skiing at 6 weeks and spent most of it face down hurtling down a mountain- I wouldn't recommend this but just to reassure you that the odd fall didn't seem to affect me. xxx My one tip would be to read Expecting Better by Emily Oster. I found it so reassuring on the what to do/ not to do malarkey- it gives you the evidence and helps you make your own decisions. :)
