Had my 12 week scan yesterday, all was fine. It was so much clearer than my lo scan. Downs test was the lowest risk which is good news and there were no signs of anything else like spina bifida etc although she couldn't confirm until 20 weeks of course.

I am now currently 13 weeks so I guess I need to move to the other thread.

Good luck to everyone and I hope to see u over there soon.

Yay glad the scan went well Mr knight!!

I am already confused about the scan paperwork. My first problem is understanding what they mean by 'comfortable bladder' does that mean empty? Normal? Or should it be full???

Secondly I have to have completed the form about what tests I am happy to have, I wish I had filled it in after the midwife appointment cos I now can't really remember what was said. I think it was about blood tests and checking for other problems. I think the only one she said to really consider was the downs syndrome one. Any one else got this form to do?

Well my bladder was very uncomfortable but the recptionist said I could go to the loo and she would make me some tea (scans were running a bit behind). She was lovely :) There was no way she could have pressed anything on me without an accident. I would say have a drink 20 mins before so you dont have to hold it too long. I had to empty my bladder to try and get baby to move positions.

As for forms I didn't have to filly any in (that I can remember). I had the blood test at 10 weeks and then the nuchal fold was measured during the scan. My risk for Downs syndrome was then calculated there and then.

    Sorry not much help.

tia86, I don't have a form to fill in. If you're unsure, can you leave some bits blank and talk it through when you get there?

I'm just expecting a scan when I go on Monday - the midwife took blood and urine at the booking appointment a couple of weeks ago.

My letter is very specific, saying to drink at least a pint of non-fizzy liquid 60mins before the appointment, and not to empty your bladder in those 60mins. Apparently this pushes the uterus up to an easier position to scan.

Just had a conversation about this on the next up thread. It's really varied. Some have to hold it till they cry while i was discouraged from it at being full at all

I had two early scans (as I had had two early natural miscarriages before) all was ok at those scans. I went to the 12 weeks scans and thats when we found out :-( . Hence whyI am so scared at the mo. X
