I am confused as it's been confirmed my nuchal fold test will be at 10 weeks? Nhs says 11-14 and my gp checked for me with the consultant who said he would be doing it at 10 weeks? Why? Anyone else had this?

They does sound odd I know harmony blood tests are done at 10 weeks but my reasearch and experience of Nuchal scans is that u need to be a minimum of 11w4 -12w something days as baby needs to be a minimum size.

Had my first midwife appt today everything went well. The midwife I met was very friendly and supportive.
Took so much blood for tests etc and confirmed that my scan will be on 23rd May but I will be only 10 + 3 on that day.

They got my dates wrong as its an IVF pregnancy she said that lets get the scan go ahead and they will give me a new scan date again for down syndrome check.

Just a quick message to say that I'm thinking about you and hoping that everything goes well for your scan tomorrow.

Loveactually - so glad your MW apt went well. Afraid I don't have any experience of the tests and dates as I didn't get that far last time.

Have got my MW apt in the morning - will be 6+4 tomorrow. Seriously hoping she's going to refer us for an early scan to let us know what's going on.

Gelly, I hope you do get referred for your reassurance.

As for me, I'm still feeling incredibly sick. Got another scan at the EPU on Friday. Was supposed to have my booking in appointment on Friday too but they've cancelled it and rearranged it for two weeks time.

Glad you got on well with your midwife loveactually. I guess this way you get an extra scan, so that's a plus

Alice31 - are you able to keep your food down? Hope your sickness relents sometime soon.

My first antenatal appointment today was 4 ladies including me and the midwife. We got given loads of leaflets, including the Bounty pack and Emma's Diary. Have you ladies signed up for either? It sounds like you get a few freebies, but I don't want to get junk texts, post and emails for the rest of my life! If you have signed up, did the benefits outweigh the spam? The only useful things in the Bounty pack itself was a 50p coupon for decaf tea and a free sample of stretch mark cream!

The midwife said she couldn't understand pregnant women's obsession with scans, she said they're not the be all and end all. I said I'd just like to know I'm really pregnant and my symptoms aren't something else entirely. One of the other ladies wanted an early scan because she'd had IVF and another because there are twins in her family. The midwife said she wouldn't recommend a private one and we should all be patient.

Seems like there isn't much to do in the first trimester except feel sick and be impatient for the 12 week-ish scan!

I thought you had to be 11 weeks 4 days as well for nuchal test. I am sure they will send you back again if it is too early.

Timeflies - i signed up last time and was ok and got a few freebies but i don't think i will this time. Did get a couple of annoying calls where people had got hold of my number from it. I can't remember what the freebies were last time.

It is hard being patient for the 12 week scan , this week is dragging.

Confession time... I have bought (and am currently wearing) a pair of maternity trousers from Mothercare. They are sooo comfy. Ridiculous at not quite 12 weeks but I just don't care!
