Less than 12 weeks pregnant club! Part 4!!

Have had my scan date come through after MW saying monday after mc and my fears she would get me an early one - wait for it - 7th May ! So I will be 13 weeks!

Hardly an early scan :-(

*de-lurking* - tinkwings, sounds very stressful and very sorry for you. The dilemma for your MW is that we have to treat everybody equitably in the NHS. There needs to be a clinical reason for a scan (as she said bleeding or cramping) as otherwise the system would be over run with women having early scans at which they would struggle to date accurately as the little one would be too small to guarantee accurate measurements and then would have to repeat the whole thing again at 12 weeks anyway. Yes if people were scanned earlier silent mc might be picked up but the tragedy is that we wouldn't know when the silent mc occurred. For example someone could have an early reassurance scan and then still have silent mc in between that one and the 12 week one.

I really admired your positive post afterwards and hope that this hideous waiting period, doesn't drag you down too much. It sounds unimaginably hard to go through a mc and not know if it it might happen again.

No ttc39 - there is no earthly way that can be classed as an early scan, you are right. Probably went into some silly central booking system that didn't understand and the mw had no control over. IT in the NHS sucks also.

Nervous, apprehensive, spent tonight hiding in the bath in tears, and even text my mum to tell her that for the first time is years I wish she was here (comes across wrong but so isn't like that, not these days anyway, we live 240 miles apart). I just need a hug from someone other that DH and for them to tell me everything's gonna be alright but I don't even really have friends around here that can do that!
Heyho, I'll just have to suck it up and cross my fingers and wait and see what tomorrow brings.....not very positive for being as chilled out as I have been for the last 8 weeks!

I know what you mean about needing your Mum, mine's in Oz so can only text email etc when I need her.

AFM - been chasing my app, they have the referral but not allocated a time yet. Could be 4-6 weeks after the referral. So looks like I'll not get a scan/booking app until 14 weeks

Thinking of getting a private scan as I have a girls spa weekend and I am fed up making up excuses for not drinking or pretending to drink. I know this is trivial compared to others worries, but I am also stressed out anyway and would welcome the reassurance. (Hence being awake at 4am) Will wait a bit and see if app comes in and take it from there.

Thanks! Just woke at 6.15 and I'm in the same states was last night! DH is sound asleep beside me. I'm not going in to work this morning as I'd only be there an hour but he is and I'm picking him up at 9 to head to town. He better be out on time!
Mum was for calling last night, told her not to as I was in bed, will speak tonight hopefully. We've never had a strong relationship but this last couple of years it has been much better, probably because we live so far apart!

If a private scan will put your mind at rest and you feel you can tell them then go for it....we've been telling people anyway after I had to tell work (vertigo meant I couldn't go on top of tankers and had to start getting others to do it, too many questions).

If you don't go for it and tell them, be careful what you do on the spa weekend, no sauna steam room or jacuzzi as these can cause dehydration in early pregnancy and speak to the therapists in confidence about what treatments you can and can't have.
