Less than 12 weeks pregnant club! Part 4!!

I have had to take morning off work today , as I have a group midwife session to attend.

I am already not happy about this as in my mind my health/ pregnancy is my business and if I go in to this group session there could be people I know/know me - who I wouldn't want knowing my business :-(

Explained this to receptionists at docs but they said this is what they are doing now :-(. No option :-(

Also in light of the treatment I had last time I am a bit anti the midwife anyhow.

(Last time had 1st appt, rang when mc started and had no response for 3 days, after she had returned from hols! And hadn't given mobile to anyone else!!!

Deep breaths, I have no option but to go if I want to arrange a scan date.

My mum who lives overseas is here midweek so I have a few days booked off with her , so just hope I can get scan arrange for a day I already have booked off . Will see :-)

Ttc39 that is really weird a group appt and before 12 weeks? I would refuse to go and kick up a massive fuss & contact the epu or my gp to sort out a scan. Anyone you know could be there! Imagine you got there and your boss was there or something! That's outrageous.

What on earth would be discussed it's not like they're going to be able to do your booking in notes in a group?

Hi Claire, glad you can understand my concerns.

Well I went there and there was a young woman and her husband and then a lady with her daughter.

I told the midwife my concerns and she told me " you should have explained your concerns and you could have seen me 1-1"

Errrr I did, to which she then asked if I would like to make a complaint about receptionist so have said yes I def do!

This midwife was lovely , not the same one from last year and seemed a lot kinder.

She said that due to age and mc I would be consultant led care.

She is going to try and get me an early scan as I told her due to last year, I can not even "think" that all is ok until I have a scan proving it and that all I am clinging onto hope wise is that I have not bled yet :-(

She is going to ring me this avo with a scan date hopefully .

Just a quick *delurk* - group appointments? How peculiar and how frustrating that the receptionist didn't listen to you but so glad you feel you can trust your mw.

I also really wanted to emphasise about the mw role. My mw made it clear that it was fine to contact her for any non emergencies but for anything else to contact an emergency number (A&E, out of services GP, 999). I work in the NHS so I am familiar from my team that when we are off the phone sits in a drawer as we are not meant to be an emergency service either. It is confusing if no-one makes it clear and can only imagine how let down you felt after your mc and she really should have made that clear. Hopefully onwards and upwards from now.

TTC39 so glad that the new mw listened to you and has put you at ease, but still unnecessary stress that wasn't needed.

I've looked through my paperwork and they've marked that I was told who to contact with queries or emergencies but I definitely wasn't informed of that luckily I'm not having any issues.

Ttc39 - what group mw session never heard anything so unprofessional in my life glad you spoke up and hope that things get sorted for you sounds like we are in a similar situation.

Hi everyone,
I'm sneaking in to join in. I'm expecting #2 (I had a little girl last Feb 2013). I'm almost 6 weeks pregnant which we are so excited and happy about. Baby should be due early December. I haven't told anyone yet (except DH obviously) so would be great to be able to chat here about everything pregnancy and baby related

For some reason I feel much more worried about this pregnancy than I did my first and am just crossing my fingers and toes that all goes to plan.

TTC39The thought of having a group midwife appt fills me with horror to be honest! It's quite a private thing isn't it so uncomfortable to share it all with strangers. Really hope my surgery isn't like that or I'll be wearing a paper bag on my head to it haha!

The group session was a waste of time really.. Went through page by page the green booklet you keep with you.

One lady didn't have English as her 1st language so didn't really appear to be following... And then I got told MW will be seeing me next week, next Monday , to ensure I have completed booklet correctly...so may as well have had the one appt with her lol

She rang me this avo to say a scan date should come by post in the next week and also an appt to see consultant .

Good thing is that next non appt is in my lunch hour so no need to waste another half day holiday lol

Thanks to all who've agreed with me re the group session. Receptionists at doc made me feel like I was being awkward wanting a 1-1 meeting .
