Wow, today has been a bit of an emotional one again, but my scan was GOOD NEWS- I saw the heartbeat again and I am about 7 1/2 weeks (9 days ago I was estimated at 6+1 so I am happy it is consistent). I have been booked in for another reassurance scan in 13 days time- because of my previous miscarriages the NHS will give me fortnightly reassurance scans.
Gelly sorry to hear your news.
When I had my missed miscarriage, the EPU made me wait 7 days for another scan to check for changes, but maybe 10 days is local policy there. i can understand why they want to be really sure in the event there isn't any change.
Don't worry too much about dates, by my calculations I should be 8+6 today, and I am not. We can only go by the date of our last period and when we think we ovulated, but we don't always have a textbook 28 day cycle or get our estimations right.
Please take it easy, make a mug of hot chocolate and snuggle under a duvet or something until your OH gets home. i know it's easy for me to say (but I have been in a very similar position) but getting yourself all worried and stressed is the last thing you need. I will be thinking of you and please keep us posted.
Freshstart good luck for tonight. How many weeks are you?0 -
Gelly I'm still thinking of you. Your GP sounds really on the ball and one of the good ones. I hope you get some good news.
Any name that's brilliant news so happy for you.
Fresh start how many weeks are you?
Well I went for my scan today and all ok was wriggling about and heart was beating fast. Thought I was 11 + 2 but they have measured me at 9 + 2. My calculations are last period and by doing it like that the first 2 weeks your not actually pregnant so it does make sense. He couldn't properly date me but thinks I will end up between my date and his in the end (7th - 20th August). So I've got to go for another scan in 2 weeks so they can date me and do the rest of the tests.
Thanks for the good wishes.0 -
Yes Disney you are right, pregnancy is dated from the start of your last period, so if that was 11+2 weeks ago, then 11+ 2 is right. Unless you have a 6 week cycle of course - i.e took 4 weeks to ovulate so therefore you would be 2 weeks behind.
Seems weird a dr is telling you the dates from conception they dont normally word it that way!
And if the baby was moving about a lot that sounds a lot more like 11 weeks! At 9 there is a lot less movement. We had a 9 week scan and a 12 week scan and the difference was pretty amazing.
Thats great news Any Name.0 -
Any name - that's fantastic news, I'm so happy for you right now! :j
Disney - definitely got a great doctors surgery - we have a fantastic relationship with them as both my parents are disabled through ill health and they've looked after them both very well over the years.
GP phoned me as promised, only 10 mins after his morning surgery had closed to tell me that the EPU at Watford will see me next Thursday early afternoon - got to collect a letter from him tonight with my medical history and take it with me along with my scan picture.
It's slightly comforting to know that some of you are having scans and they are dating you earlier than you thought you were - I'm clinging to a bit of hope I guess but I do realise that it's looking unlikely.
I was having a look at my OV tracking details on FF and can see that we DTD a few times after I think we concieved so again, clinging on to a bit of hope really.
Thank crunchie it's Friday girls, I can't wait to leave work and head home.
We're going to tell our parents tonight - were going to give them the good news and cute cupcakes last night but couldn't bring myself to tell them straight away.
Have decided that we'll tell our bosses on Monday in strictest confidence as it's likely I'm going to need some time off for further tests/scans, etc over the next few weeks.
Love and hugs
Gelly

Claire - my last period was 20th October but I had roughly a 36 day cycle. I'm defiantly not 13 weeks but the heartbeat was strong and baby was jumping up and down. I guess they can only go on what they measure. I think I'm a bit further along but there's only 2 weeks in it.0

That makes more sense with a 36 day cycle. If the baby was jumping up and down I can't see it only being 9 weeks! We just had a very small leg wiggle at that stage. But by 11/12 they can be jumping all around. So I reckon you will be rightAt least you will get to see the baby again!

Congrats for your scans any name and disney pluto so pleased you both had good news x
Hugs again Gelly I hope the doctors right and your dates are just a bit out, I know it totally sucks being in limbo but take good care of yourself and your OH and keep us posted x
Good luck for your scan fresh start let us know how it goes x
It seems we're all scan crazy as I've got my second one tomorrow, got scanned just after christmas and saw a blob with a heartbeat so I'm hoping to see something that looks a little more baby like this time as I should be 9+4. I really want DH to see something as he can't come to my NHS scan on the 6th.
Hugs to all x0 -
Gelly - that sucks about the EPU. Usually it is possible to get you bloods done for HCG levels at the GP surgery - why don't you ask the nice GP if they can do it? I think they still send them off to the hospital but they'd be done, at least, and give you some indication of what's happening.
Did you chart in any way? Do you know when you ovulated and when you had sex? Because lots of women do not ovulate on CD14 which is what they work all their dates on. For example, I ovulate on CD19 so I just added five days to my LMP when I booked in with the midwife and lo! all my dates are correct. Last time I didn't know that, and was always told I was measuring small for dates
So if you can work out when you might have OVd or actually conceived (bearing in mind sperm can live for 7 days) then maybe your dates might be more in tune with the measurements you have?
I have no idea of the range of normal for sac measurements, but St Mary's measured my sac at 3.1 at 6 weeks, 3.7 at 8 weeks, and 6.4 at 11 weeks. I'm assuming those are in cms? However, they could also see a baby on all those occasions.
I have no idea if that helps or just confuses further, but do ask your GP about bloods (call now!) and have more hugs for such a worrying time xxx:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j
