Well at the hospital they said that if I have the stitches they would be done by dr x who incidentally is the same dr/consultant that's done all my ops so she should know best. I'll push the MW to refer me. I glad I came on here now :)
  • tcod, you have the same due date as me now :)

My date seems to be edging closer and closer! Had three different ones now. My mum is hoping that it'll get reduced more to 1st as that's her b'day. Can imagine her lurking round corners with klaxons and other scaring techniques to try and make it happen! :)

T2d. I think i'll lurk around here til you, wtdn and peonie move up. Am a big scaredy cat. Lol. :)
  • TCD THANK GOD you are ok. Just saw you had posted on here and ttc thread and feared the worse. So lovely you saw fingers! X

Just had tea with a couple of friends and one said "I'm pregnant!" I burst out "so am I!" Turns out we are due same week :) this is her 2nd child.

What makes this supernice is that when she was pregnant with her first we were just starting TTC and I thought we would be pregnant together. How naive! Now I feel like I've caught up a bit :)
  • Thank you. Xx

Just told a friend who's had a rough time ttc. She's just found out she's pregnant but thinks she's having a m/c. Had to tell her as it's going to be obvious soon and to try and put her mind at rest about some of her symptoms/ lack of. Not heard back from her so am hoping she's ok. Hated telling her as we were bitter infertiles together- felt awful and smug, though deffo wasn't... Just hope this is her sticky bean.

Wow. This baby growing thing is really amazing. I know that's a really cliche'd thing to say, but seriously... it's stunning.

The reason cliches are cliches is because it's true. DH just spent 5 minutes having week 9 and 10 of pregnancy explained with his mouth open, saying 'really', 'you're kidding?'

Great news on all the scans and good luck to all those with scans soon. (16 sleeps to go, 16 sleeps to go). Off to see one of my best friends I've known since I was 4 and her two mini-mes so going to tell her I'm 10 weeks - my scan will be on her daughter, my god-daughter's 3rd birthday! Still hoping there really is someone in there and they don't tell me I'm mad or deluded or that something isn't going right.

I am very naive. I had no idea about stitches and things and hope all goes well for everyone.

tcod - hope all works out for your friend. When we were ttc, we told no-one but I did tell a close friend who I found out in December just gone had been trying for over a year at that point. I was going to tell her and my friends at an early birthday celebration the Sunday after the 12 weeks scan but have been thinking that is very insensitive so was going to call her and tell her once the scan is done and let her decide if she can still face coming. Is that patronising?

t2d - glad telling work went well

Last night I nearly died choking on my own vomit. Scary stuff. Thought I was over the MS now. Suppose it serves me right for having the Chinese :D

Lilmiss, definitely tell her in advance. She'll appreciate your compassion. I would have found it hard to have been told that news face-to-face and with others there.

It took me a year and a half of TTC before I started to get upset at others announcements - she might not be at that point yet. I never told them how badly it affected me. Somehow they all magically managed to announce on the day aunt flo arrived. They also announced by email which also made it easier as I could wait a few hours or a day until the shock had passed.

I have a friend that I think is TTC but we've never talked about it for her or me. Considering she was my bridesmaid we're close. I'm not sure how to break it to her in case she is.

  • Deffo pre-warn lilmiss. Like others have said it's not patronising, long-term ttc is horrendous. I got to the stage where I could smell a bfp announcement a mile off and it consumed me with bitterness. Hopefully your friend won't be that far down the line but it's nice to be able to lick your wounds in private and then celebrate good news than having it announced in public and putting a face on iyswim? :)
  • Lilmissmup we had a similar dilemma in that we know friends of ours are going through ivf (just starting round 3) and they didn't know we were ttc.

Awkward thing was that her hubby had told my hubby but other than that we would have no idea. Main dilemma was that we weren't supposed to know and still have no idea if she knows that we know!

We were worried about upsetting her (and him) though with an announcement so OH told her hubby a couple of weeks ago. At that point he said he was going tell her when the time was right but it at least gave him a couple of weeks before it is common knowledge. He certainly really appreciated this and I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that cycle 3 is going well for them and they will have good news soon.
