Hi ladies, hope you are well - thank Crunchie (other sweet confectionery is available) it's Friday!!!
Isn't it amazing how different our appts and timescales are depending on what part of the country we're in.
I've got my booking in appt with the MW next Weds at 8+2 and I'm really hoping I can request to have my 12 week scan w/c 10th Feb (or earlier) - we've having a birthday meal out on 15th Feb for my 35th -eeeeek, and want to be able to thank people for coming and share our good news with them.
Re DTD since finding out - HB has been particularly rampant since we got our BFP which has been quite funny - I wonder if he's wanting to get in there whilst he can as I can just tell I'll get mahoosive - I'm not particularly tall so reckon I'll be as wide as I am tall ;oO
Strangely, symptoms seem to have vanished a bit in the last 24 hours - extreme tiredness wasn't as bad yesterday and actually made it to 11pm unlike the night before when it was 6.45pm! Plus bloating and dizziness isn't so bad now - is this normal?
It's making me worry a bit but I guess, there is absolutely nothing I can do evening if something does happen so need to try to be as relaxed as possible - like that's going to happen ;o)
Wishing you all a happy Friday
Gelly

Firstly, thank you everyone for their kind words and thoughts! They seem to have worked.
We went for our (internal) scan this morning and saw the gestation sac, yolk sac and Baby_I all present and correct with the beginning flutterings of a heart beat. Very overwhelmed, very surprised - I had convinced myself that the bleeding on Wednesday was the end for us, and the Doctor confessed he wasn't expecting to find anything after looking at my notes. Doctor has booked us in for another scan next Friday to see how things are, as baby was still too small for an accurate measurement to date by and to see if there is a more consistent heart beat. Feeling slightly more optimistic, admittedly very cautiously so.
Unfortunately, this second scan and needing time off work for it means I need to tell work far sooner than I'd wanted to. DH has pointed out that maybe it's worth us telling our parents this weekend (before I tell work), as we'd wanted them to be the first to know. However, due to living 250 miles away from them, it would mean telling them over the phone rather than in person.Mulling over what to do, as I don't want to start telling people so soon really (just in case), as it is still so early and so much could happen. Has anyone got any suggestions/thoughts on this subject?

Miss_Imaginative - that's fantastic news on your scan, I'm so pleased for you both. :j
Re telling work before parents, I know what you mean about wanting to tell parents first. I think, if it were me, I'd tell parents by phone so they know first but appreciate it might not be the perfect solution as i can appreciate wanting to tell them in person - work would always come after family if it can be helped.

Thank you, Gelly.
It's such a relief! Trying to be cautiously optimistic, but am aware it's very early days.
Exacty - I see yours and DH's perspective - family always has and always will come before work. I just hadn't envisaged telling our parents over the phone! Really wanted to tell them face to face and see their reactions. But, life doesn't always work out as we wished, and I know they will understand why we have to tell them over the phone and appreciate we wanted them to be the first (other than us) to know. Many thanks, Gelly!

Thanks for all your replies.
Seems it quite the norm in Northern Ireland for your scan to be between 8 & 13 weeks.
My scans will be at Lagan valley, not sure about which hospital for the birth.
Another dtd related q from me! Are lubes safe? We have run out of conceive plus so I was just going to get a standard one. Any one know if any are to be avoided?0 -
I am still waiting to hear when my booking in appointment is..... not looking like my doctor referred me as been over a week and heard zilch!
He seemed like a bit of a muppet..... I have rang the midwife team and left a message so hopefully I will hear something early next week or will ring again if not heard by Wednesday as will be 9 weeks next Thursday!
Joys of wanting to use the other hospital I guess, but I live halfway between each so its not like I am asking much! Now a SAHM trying to earn some spare pennies each month0 -
After my GP appointment it took about 3 weeks for the letter as they prefer to see you for your booking appointment at 11 weeks, then the following week for dating scan.0

Thanks mrshappy, everything leads you to believe you should be seen before 10 weeks around my way though. Now a SAHM trying to earn some spare pennies each month0

Here we book the booking in appt ourselves, once we've seen the dr.
The midwife calls you and you arrange a time.
Then we ring up & book a scan which I was grateful for as most places ladies seem to just get sent a letter which could be at a totally inconvenient time.0 -
My GP said I would get a letter but I dont have uttermost faith in him as he was away with the fairies when I went there and its a different hospital to whom they deal with..... hopefully I will get a reply to my voicemail next week! Now a SAHM trying to earn some spare pennies each month0
