Congratulations teamlowe, wonderful news and lovely name, I too would be shocked but who cares, as long as baby is happy and healthy that is all that matters.

I am still unsure we are having a boy as on the 20 week scan the lady did say girl at first then changed it to boy as 'bits' were seen. Lucky we have kept the gender secret from family and friends and we have a unisex name thou I don't love the name for a little girl so that may change if the baby has no bits! All clothes etc are white except for one pack of baby grows I have bought myself from next which is more boyish but a girl could wear them. :D

Had a great nights sleep last night, feeling good for once! Hopefully no ramdon crying today, nothing much planned, petrol, food shop and then a tidy up.....nothing too stressful. Might dig out my old CDs from my younger days and have them on loud while tidying up.......bit of backstreet boys, take that, a few old now CDs etc

Is it strange that I am looking forward to a tour of the labour ward tomorrow at the hospital? I hate not knowing where I am going so I am really excited to find out! :rotfl: If I was in my home town hospital I wouldn't be bothered as I know that hospital like the back of my hand but that one is too far away from where I now live.

    Once again, congratulations teamlowe. X x x

I must admit I am starting to wonder but we did have a great view of downstairs on our scan. If I do get another scan I will get them to check again.

I don't think it happens that often but I guess they can't get it right all the time!

Bet it was a shock but a happy one :-) x

The more observant of you will notice that's a boy's name...never have I been so shocked to be shown someone's testicles! Lol

We're absolutely besotted with our little man, DH was absolutely gutted to have to leave us but he can come back 10-8 tomorrow so not to bad

Will write up full story once home but knackered now lol x
Congratulations! :j Glad you're besotted and not tooooo thrown by the gender confusion :rotfl: Interested in the rest of the story, but very happy you're all well and good :) Are they giving extra monitoring, cos he's technically "premature"?

I'm a little confused by what date "last night" is, so I'm gonna guess it was the 11th (for the list) and you'll have to correct me if I'm wrong ;)

Having a lazy morning after a busy yesterday. Baby shower meant an early start, sociable day and then I came home got two washes through, cleared up a bit, cooked dinner etc too. Woke in the night struggling to get comfy with painful right hip, so having a rest in bed this morning with heat patch on.

Just got tens machine out of packet and assembled and checked it turns on ok. Looks simple enough to use (I am using the Obi tens from babycare tens website, found via NCT website). I have used tens before at chiropractor so I know what to expect in terms of sensation, just needed to know how to work it!

Hope you are doing ok Kerri!

Little Lowe is asleep, Mr Lowe has gone to buy a car so I'll tell my story..
So Friday was sent for a growth scan and monitoring, scan showed there was still a lot of fluid left so was thinking they'd send me home but doctor said as I was past 36 weeks they'd induce, only allowed to have one pessary as waters broke. Pessary opened the neck of my womb so had to wait for a free bed to go to delivery for the drip.

Irony of ironies, Saturday morning I was taken to the only room with a birthing pool as it was the only one free- quite upset me cos it brought home that I wasn't to have the birth I'd imagined- no chance of being in pool and not able to move around due to drip and CTG- whole Labour and birth lying down.

Drip started at 11:00, start of labour officially recorded from when contractions were 4 in 10 minutes, which was 4.00pm. Had gas and air and that was enough for most of it but then I had to ask for pethidine to take the edge off.
I never got to see the difference the pethidine made as suddenly there was lots people- the trace on baby wasn't looking good and they had me on my side eyeing me up for an epidural, presumably for an emergency c section but the next contractions came with the overwhelming urge to push. When I say 'urge' I mean my body was doing it all by itself and they kept telling me not to but there was no way I was in control of it. Felt a burning sensation that must have been him crowning, all I remember is midwife telling student what position to be in and trying to shout there's no time as I felt baby slither out with the next involuntary push. Then he was being held up onto my belly with the midwife saying 'its not a little girl' which led to me keep going 'bloody hell it's a boy' over and over lol

Shortly after they found the cause of all the drama- there was a knot in the placenta, which was why baby was in distress and the midwife thinks my body rushed to get him out. So I think I'll categorize my labour as 'All's Well That Ends Well' as my son is perfectly perfect, feeding and sleeping well, and the worst I suffered is second degree tears :)

  • So pleased for you TL. Birth sounds hectic but good in the end. Hopefully you'll heal very soon. I know the shock you feel - I bonded for 4m with a little boy, to be given a girl! It left me speechless. We didn't mind either gender too but only had a boys name and only blue/grey clothes in my hospital bag! This time around we were told a boy again - I paid for a 4d scan to confirm and even then I still bought white sleepsuit a that were gender neutral in my hospital bag lol.

Thomas is a gorgeous little man and a very good weight for so early. Big hugs to you both and congratulations again, Mommy and Daddy! Xx

    Congratulations TL!

    What an amazing story!

I can not believe after all our joking on here about our girls turning out to be boys or vice versa, its actually happened to someone! Made me glad we got them to check and got a really view of the bits on Friday as Ive bought so much pink stuff!

So glad the birth went ok in the end even if parts were not what you wanted, just glad your little boy is here safe and sound as that last bit does sound a bit scary. Definitely makes me think the hospital is the best place to be in a scenario like that even if you were staring at a pool you couldnt go in!

Aw I just want to cry Ive seen your whole ttc story on here and its just lovely to hear your baby is here xx

Aw just noticed the pink flowery hat after reading Lilys post- Nice story and pic for when he's older :)

How did you choose the name so fast? Which is lovely btw.

If our girl were to become a boy there will be major arguments we couldnt agree on any boys!
