I'm making a list of recipes/meals that we like, then I'm going to see what I can freeze. The 99p store/Poundland usually have aluminium tins with paper covers that work well for casseroles, plus, no washing up afterwards! :j
While you're at the store, look through the frozen ready meal sections and see what they have, then you can make your own.0 -
Come on BZ, I'm stalking for news of you xx0

Kerri thats so cute - and its almost like shes keep one finger on her food source just incase anyone else was to dare touch it whilst shes asleep
We went and bought the rest of our painting equipment and paint today. I had already got in the post the non-toxic special nursery paint I bought for the walls, but really couldnt afford that for the ceiling and gloss for the skirting boards so just got normal stuff for that plus a couple of brushes and new rollers.
Trying to convince DH we need to start wiping down the walls and stuff today, so that when we are free in 2 weeks time to do the painting the boring part is already done. He is more interested in sitting on the couch watching the Australian Open. Which is fine he works hard all week but Im itching to start work on the nursery!
Mrs Bunny oh dear doesnt sound like your DH has much chance today lol Im like that with mine sometimes. Mine has already been running this morning though so now he's back in the house I need him to start the jobs and he is not interested - although it was only a couple of days ago he was saying how he wants the nursery done by 36 weeks just incase - I just think he thinks fairies will do it!0 -
Has anyone considered a breast pump? I've been looking into it as I'd like to combine breastfeeding with expressed bottle feeding if I can but I don't want know where to start with breast pumps.
I asked knitted boob lady the other day and she said some women like manual, some electric but many say the best way is by hand.
To be honest, I know it's natural but doing it by hand makes me feel just a little bit gross (like milking a cow!) and I'd much rather an electrical one because I reckon it'll lessen the weirdness!
Anyone have any recommendations?0 -
Thanks for all the replies about nappies. I think we have enough for now. We have loads of supermarkets near us so I'll just send dh when we need more.
Congratulations firefly!
Good luck bz, hope things pick up for you soon and you're getting enough rest.
I had an awful day at work yesterday. I've been struggling with back ache quite high up, have seen a physio but she gave me 2 stretches to do and that was all. I had a bra fitting yesterday and have gone up a fair few sizes. I wore the new bra yesterday and my back was worse than normal. I think I need to get a bra extender - thanks to whoever mentioned them recently! Anyway, I was exhausted when I got home and even though I had a fairly good night's sleep I still feel exhausted today. But we have to tidy up as we have our first viewing on our flat today!
I may treat myself with spending time in the nursery folding tiny baby clothes later!
For the first time yesterday I got a horrible ache in the top of my back like where the shoulder blades are, so I got DH to do like a sports type massage on me i.e a painful massage but it did work. It felt like he was pressing really hard and doing horrible stuff but I feel a lot better. So if you have any friends who can do stuff like that I recommend it if the physio isn't working.Has anyone considered a breast pump? I got a free manual one off facebook with a few bottles, that someone said they had never used, Im a bit skeptical about it - firstly I think my boob needs to grow to even use the thing :rotfl: and I was trying it up against my hand and stuff and there didnt seem to be much suction! Dh said I was letting air in though.
Im pretty sure my friend had an electric one but she didnt get on with pumping and said it took so much time to get hardly any milk it was pointless she could have spent that time just feeding. However Ive read both on here and other places other ladies getting on really well with them.
I dont really want to spend a load on one yet though. So not sure what to do.
The only reason I thought about getting one was if I needed to say pop out to do something it would mean I could leave DH with the baby for a bit. Having said that I know some babies will refuse to drink from bottles so again could be a waste of money. So hoping I can use my friends to try - although it could be that she didnt get on with it because it was just a particularly bad make or something as Im sure some must be better than others.
Bit of a minefield really! Almost as bad as deciding what buggy to buy lol!0 -
Congratulations Firefly! Hope you're both getting on well.
Con, if you're thinking of a playmat, how about the Fisher Price Rainforest one? Can't wait to get ours out of the packaging and set up for the little man!The M&P ones are cute but TBH I don't think they look that 'fun' compared to FP stuff... we've got a M&P mobile (OH bought it without asking) and I'm a bit disappointed as it's cute but not very flash!
Hugs for having a bad, painful day at work Lulu. How long have you got left? I really struggled with my back at work despite having a back support and a cushion!
Hope you cheer up for tonight Mrs Bunny! And that you find some shoes to wear! Maybe a cake and a little nap will perk you up?!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Thanks Claire, it's complicated isn't it!!! I might pick up a cheap manual one to try out before I go for the more expensive option. Guess ill just start looking up some breastfeeding forums and see what people are saying.
Looking forward to feeding but at least it's going straight into babies mouth. It's the thought of squirting it into a bottle that makes me feel quite grossed out! X0
