I still read beauty blogs and watch videos. I think what's changed is that I've been through that cycle - of watching, buying, thinking the product is average at best, adding it to my "to UU ASAP" list, rinse repeat - that anything I read or watch doesn't influence my spending too much anymore. I kinda know what types of products I might like now, whereas back in 2009-10 I was open to trying anything as I just didn't know my preferences. Nowadays... I still love products, but I like minimalism and being able to move easily so I think my priorities are changing - my next goal is getting my stash right down. I tell myself I can buy anything I want, but is there any point in having 10 of one type of product, and could I instead just wait a little while until I need it? In the waiting, I often lose complete interest in the products I have so wanted initially. But I think I will always be interested in this sortof thing, and thus always at some risk of accumulating!

Good luck with figuring it all out KT - I think it's a bit a process! Keep posting - Most of my realisations about my toiletry hoarding has been through interactions here :beer:

Exactly! Who knows what relationships they have with brands? Also, that most say they don't like to review products they've not liked too much (for various cited reasons) makes me a little cautious. I think the sheer volume of stuff they get sent can mean they're coming from a different perspective entirely - there will be more stuff, they can give it away/throw it out, it's their day job- it can be different than when you put down your own cash. Although I'm aware they probably do a fair amount of spending too.
But saying that I do watch/read and have learnt a lot about self care from them so I am thankful as well

Phew! Glad the TSV is not skincare, rarely paint my nails.

As for the YouTube discussion, my makeup is lovingly stored in 4 sets of Muji drawers and I love them! I try not to remember that they cost me £70+ for a bit of acrylic. Still I am happy with them and love that I can get to all my cosmetics easily.

I find my main problem is when Caroline Hirons recommends a product because then I desperately want it!

Kadison - the polishes look really pretty. I have loads though, for Christmas I got the LD TSV from November and I had it on auto delivery for 3 more sets. I rang them last week and cancelled the AD, they were lovely sets but I don't want to spend the money and I don't need them. Huge progress for me.

Avon Naturals Cherry Blossom Daily Hair Refresher - have replaced it with another from the stash and I think I have one or two more yet. After that I will just fill the bottle with water.

Sun is coming out here now so may go for a walk later but first I need to get ebaying as it's free listing. I had fallen out with them but will see how I get on this time. I just feel there are too many scammers and the fees are too high.

You could always add a teaspoon or so of your favourite conditioner to the bottle to give you a nice scent and your hair a little moisture boost inbetween washes. I do this, spraying my hair every morning, finger combing to re-clump my curls and get rid of frizz, and then scrunch through another small blob of conditioner (probably between a 5p and 10p in size), but my hair is ever so thirsty. My bathroom cabinet door has been fixed so I can now open it without worrying it will fall off altogether - big relief as it is mirrored and I am superstitious!:D

Soap & Glory Hand Food: One more left in stash and that's it, will never buy again. Such a disappointing product.

TBS Lemon bar of soap. WNBA . I suspect it has some type of SLS in it as it has aggravated a small eczema patch on my arm. Smells nice initially but fades very quickly. Unfortunately, my attempt to create a homemade body wash using olive oil soap has been a disaster with my most of the soap spilling on the cooker :-(

Molton Brown exfoliating cleanse bar - WNBA, I got 4 bars as a gift. Really underwhelmed with it, not scrubby enough, more like a normal soap with a few bits in it! Have UU one in shower and repurposed another as a soap in family bathroom. Think the other 2 bars will be repurposed too...

Anthony glycolic cleanser - WMBA, this was a GWP with a cleanser I bought my son. It is actually meant for men. It wasn't bad, left my skin clean and no breakouts. I think I still prefer my REN as I felt this left my skin a little tighter than the REN but not a bad product.

Serozinc - WMBA, this is a hydrating toner as recommended by the Hirons Godess! . I'm not sure if it actually does anything because I started using several new products at the same time so not sure if this helped hydrate my skin or something else did. I do have another can in my stash but think I shall use some other toners and perhaps save this for summer when I want a refreshing spritz! It is also unavailable in the UK so had to buy from eBay.

Pecksniffs White Floral perfume - WNBA, way too floral for me but I did manage to use this up.

Aesop Parsley Seed anti-oxidant hydrator - WMBA, this was just a sample sachet and I've not used any Aesop products before but I did like it. Obviously I only had enough for a couple of days, but it left my skin nourished and not at all shiny. I'm still searching for my HG moisturiser but this may go on the short list for a maybe. No idea on price, though.
