You might be able to pick up an iron and ironing board on Freecycle? At least a 'good enough' one for use at home if you have a good one at home.

I very rarely iron anything at home, because if you think how it will look after being worn for half an hour it's often not worth it ...

    I'm keeping my eye out.
In dressmaking it's important to iron things as you go, makes for a better finish if seams etc are flattened in the right direction etc.
    I admit I hate ironing!

  • Why not put a card in your shop window, asking if anyone has a spare iron & board that they want rid of.

That's another little cash earner. Our local sunbed shop charges £5 for 2 weeks adverts. You are allowed up to 6x4 card. Lots of cleaners and gardeners tend to advertise. It's only a small board, but it is always full. All it would cost you is a bit of pin board and put it in the corner of the window and it could potentially earn you a small amount of cash.

Cricky £5 for two weeks! I remember 50p a week!
    Inflation then!
I may be making a board for inside the shop, but not sure about the window. Will have a think!
Today is doing the jobs at home while I wait for the Asda delivery. Why can you book a two hour slot with food ?but the clothes delivery is from 7am - 7pm? Then I got a message saying it would be between 12 and 9 pm! If her uniform doesn't fit I have no chance to alter it. ! Bad granny leaving it so late. Shop has taken over already !

  • Good luck, Mooloo! I wish I was local to you. Joy only would I like to learn to sew and would be interested in your second hand clothes but I also have a bag if nearly new clothing my daughter has just sorted out of her wardrobe. She has a new job and wanted a slightly more 'mature' wardrobe!

Thanks. I will have to learn how to do you tube or Skype lessons.
Re the clothes, I would love to have them, and would be happy to source and pay for delivery. If I can find out the weight etc and ask a courier for costs. My aim is to recycle as much as I can. It's a tall order I know. But I get upset at what goes to landfill, or sold abroad. When I was in charity shop management, I was made aware of the way the chain works.

Huge good luck wishes, Mooloo! I wish I was near enough to come down and say it in person.

If you ever do skype or youtube lessons I will definitely be signing up.
