Never thought of that! Well the thought of a home of my own, to my requirements would have been nice. Always had to rent wherever was in price bracket rather then desired space.
I think for now, it's stay put in the council house, and try and learn to like it. Maybe one day I will be able to have savings sorted and deposit for a better place, but seems a long shot.
For now I should be appreciating the fact that I am lucky to have a council place and my tax credits to boost my earnings.
Living the dream may just take a bit longer!!!
Spent the evening Ironing and sewing apron straps. Time to stop and get ready for bed now. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Well something went wrong in my planning, as ended up still up till 1am!
Watching Law and Order on catching up. Am now up to date with it! Still woke a few times in the night and have been awake since 6.20ish
I've had a cup of tea in bed.
Checked my Bank Accounts. Shuffled my money around and put £100 into my ISA account (which is actually my savings for My DGD). I am determined to get it up to £1,000 for her). Currently somewhere in the £700s).
every penny counts.
Back to work at the recycle centre today.
Booked in some sewing lessons for next Friday.
Hopefully I will get my mojo right soon. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
a few changes going on at the recycling centre, but although the company has been divided up etc due to messy divorce of directors the new business still wants my services thank goodness. Due to holidays, etc I can only manage one day a week this next week as well. So must watch my pennies.
Today I was hoping for a morning on potter mode peppered with household chores and finishing off some aprons, but Twin2 requires my taxi services at 8am as she has to go on a course at Moulton College, and this being Easter the buses are only running a Sunday Service! So although I don't really want to do it, she has to go or JSA stop her money. And we all know it's me that will suffer the financial burden if that happens!
I am in danger of getting lost amongst the piles of ironing, and clothes that I have been given to create with.
I am hoping DGD will still go to her Mum for tonight, and that BF is coming here tonight.
If the rain stays away I am hoping that he will be willing to help me cut the lawn, as I pulled several muscles trying to start the dratted thing with no success!
Going to be one of those days that the plans are scuppered before long I can feel it in my bones.
Time for my cup of tea, and then action stations.
No Sun here this morning, must remember to dress more warmly, ventured out with no tights yesterday and seriously regretted it!
Brrrrrr
did some more sewing last night with the TV on, realised missed most of the programme as can't see the TV or hear it when overlocking.
Really don't know why I bother. But hate sitting in silence.
Must put the radio on!
I must also get my act together and sort out DS' room to work in again. Just when I manage to make the time!
Have a good Easter. XWhen I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -

Funny I was just thinking the same.
Don't people do council house swaps anymore? You'd have to be wary of moving into an infamous estate and do your research accordingly, but there are genuine reasons why people might want to move from a scenic or rural area to a busy town.
There are lots of beautiful places in Britain, but if the idea of Portugal or France is for the sunshine then it's a non-starter I 'spose.
Wouldn't it be lovely to have the money to buy a countryside house with a craft workshop attached? There was one on Escape to the Country a few weeks ago. I was overcome with envy at it.
Sorry to hear you're so fed up Mooloo.Love the animals: God has given them the rudiments of thought and joy untroubled. Do not trouble their joy, don't harrass them, don't deprive them of their happiness.0 -

I was thinking the same but never got round to posting.
I live in a council house in a tiny village and we are partly living The Good Life.
Our local council allow people to keep chickens in their back gardens - if you have an older council house then you get massive gardens - our back garden is 120ft.
Plus we have land in the village which we rent and keep our turkeys, geese and lambs on - this was got through word of mouth and just talking to people when we went for a walk.
If you moved into a 3 bed house then you could use 1 room for sewing workshops.
I think people are moving from rural areas in to towns especially when they can no longer afford to run cars or are too ill to drive (think diabetes/epilepsy etc).
A website that a lot of people use is called house exchange - do not pay to sign up (some people I know didn't realise our local council had an agreement with them and people could sign for free).
Plus even for DGD village schools can be very good, my daughters school is very good and they provode a school bus for the children from our village.
The only downside is we have no shops but a lot of villages (with council houses) do. At the moment I am not too bothered as I work in a large town and do my shopping there.
Hope you have a good weekend and the garden is looking good.0 -
Yes I wasn't thinking of you buying at this point Mooloo (one step at a time
) but often people in small villages as they get older want something more accessible or move closer to family so properties more suitable to your dream can come up on exchange.
Pardon me if you'd already thought of that though !I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

I hadn't thought about exchanging as I suppose I was romanticising about living the dream like my brother and sister.
I think that I will stay where I am unless BF wants to actually put his invite to live with him into practise, unless I ever manage to change my financial situation and then I'd consider purchasing a property I liked rather then end up with. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Moo loo, have you ever made. Or would consider making handbag organisers, like the one on this YouTube video

I would happily be your first customer for one in a pretty print!0 -
