so today we were not out the door early enough for DGD to go to breakfast club, so I didn't get to work until the usual time. But I was sewing within minutes. The first job was to make a shirt sleeve 5" shorter. Involves removing cuff, and the vent flap, shortening, recutting vent, and replacing it all! Was a mans Vivian Westwood shirt.
Then I had the zips to put back into a trampoline cover.
Not to mention several other jobs.
Closed at 12 but didn't get away till 1.30
My help stayed to finish up some stuff, she said later dispite the closed signs and locked doors people still kept trying to come in!
Tonight I teach. Week 2 of 6 week courseWhen I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Morning! I am so tired!
I had a rest before returning to teach. The lesson flew by, we over ran by about 20 minutes.
But patterns have been demystified, measurements taken, and fabric choices and quantities have been worked out.
They now need to shop for their fabric.
The place looked clean and was warm and welcoming, even though I don't have the wallpaper up yet.
This morning I have a wedding dress to finish before anythingelse, as I ran out of time yesterday. Then a jacket sleeves to shorten, followed by several pairs of trousers to turn up, and a jacket that has to be shortened all before the day is out! Busy busy is all I can say. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Sounds like you're going to need to be recruiting soon Mooloo! Maybe if anyone on one of your courses shows talent you can train them up to do some of the simpler stuff.0

Had a nightmare day, the wedding dress went fine. The jacket, needed alterations that won't be seen to actually achieve what the lady wanted, and it took me 3 hours instead of one. ( so a loss of money and time there!)
The jeans were put on hold as I had a zip finally arrive for one of the coats that's been waiting. Am urgent repair to a jacket for the dry cleaners, and a skirt shortened by 6".
Not as many jobs tackled as I had on the spreadsheet, and several jobs added to the list, including mending a suitcase.
I have brought home some of the doilies for another table runner, as there are loads to do, and I am not getting them done at work.
I got an invite to a friends wedding though! And a bottle of wine from the Rotary Club for mending their banner last week.
I'm having a nightmare with the embroidery machine, and think it needs to be sent back, and be serviced as it's not working properly at all. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
So it's a new day. Here is hoping for a smooth day, some simpler jobs, and a few less interruptions, so I can attack the jobs that are already booked in. Anything needed for Monday's collection has to be finished today, as tomorrow is tied up with teaching.
Creating Christmas is on the horizon, so I need to be ontop of my list.
Twin two is up here at twin ones place. I paid most of her fare as her birthday present. They will be 26 on the 19th.
I have some costume jewellery for them to have a gift to open, and twin 1, a Vax as her vac is useless. ( got it in a Vax sale at 1/3 price).
So I am stepping into today with hope in my heart, a positive attitude, and take action to a good day!!When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
, didn't quite get all the jobs done! One jacket sleeves to still do. But I will hopefully get that done in the morning.
The embroidery machine is going back to be serviced etc on Monday, so I have to get the box out of the loft here at home.
There was still a lot of people in the shop, and some have been asking about sewing machines and lessons etc. There was a few balls of wool sold, and a dress from the clothes section. I didn't get to do the curtains etc I planned to do, but still have time to do them before they are due to be collected.
DS has a new job starting tomorrow in a pub here in town, so he will have a lot less travelling to do, which will help the budget and more hours so he should start to fing things easier soon. ( I hope).
Tonight I bought a bundle of tops etc via online car boot, for DGD as suddenly all her clothes are too small again. So a bag full can go into work to work for resale or for Upcycling! I don't waste anything if I can help it.When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Morning, I sat hand sewing doilies, into another table runner last night, while watching/more listening to Children in Need, but went to bed around 10.30 when I'd finished the table runner, as I knew I had work today.
The Babysitter cancelled, she has a tummy bug. But the twins are going to look after DGD today for me. I have Molly's daughter helping me in the shop. The first course hasn't had anyone book on it, dispite people saying they were interested. Not so good for the cash flow, but it does give me time to work on the curtains and heavier items up in the workroom.
So every cloud has a silver lining.
I'm running behind a little as I set the alarm a bit later as I was so tired. And I will need to drive DGD to her Mums before I start work.
The housework will have to wait until tonight or tomorrow!
Except the washing up, I will do that before I go out as I hate seeing it when I get in.
DS's GF came into the shop last night, waited for me to give her a lift home, till DS got back. She moaned non stop about either her work, or my son. She is not going to enamour me that way at all.
I pity my sons life, as she went off on one the minute he arrived to pick her up. I fear he may live to regret choosing this one to be the mother of his child, and may well regret fatherhood! She is a nightmare. But I can't say anything, it's their choice not mine.
DGD asked why she was so mean when she had gone. So it wasn't just my view!
Time to get moving, I need to wash my hair and get ready, and pack a bag for DGD.
Have a good day. XWhen I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Well I am glad that week is over. It's been a bad week all round.
If it could go wrong it did.
So tomorrow, my day off, it looks like I will be back at the shop working to try and catch up the things I am now so far behind on.
For tonight, I'm going to have a Tesco Finist meal, and watch TV.When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Well with DGD at her Mum's, I went into work, and with a friends help we worked our way through all the big jobs, curtains that needed lining, others that needed header tapes added, and a duvet that needed patching, a blanket that needed edging, two pairs of jeans that needed shortening, and a jacket that needed it's sleeves shortening.
I finished 6 hours later!
In time to go and get DGD. I'm starving, missed lunch. Time to eat.
Twin2 was not at her sisters but at family from hells. So that really did bug me. Twin1's BF is up here again. Talking about work, etc and helping Twin1 find a job. That will be interesting. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
I know you shouldn't work on Sundays but sounds like you got quite a bit done.
Sorry to hear you have had a bad week - the key is to accept it and carry on (while also making sure there is money in the budget for the next time something bad crops up)
Can I also just say how brilliantly you are doing :T- it is amazing how quickly the shop has taken shape and how brilliant that the local town are all supporting you.:T
I know you can't make some of your upcycle clothing but that will hopefully come soon.0
