Busier day then usual for a Saturday. Plenty of work to do. Lots more people now coming in and looking at the middle floor clothes etc. Sold one chap a superman costume, and some jeans. A few baby clothes, and a scarf. Not much but it's a start.
Mr Marvel broke his zip the other end this time, so another quick repair there!
Hand sewing mostly today. Sewing crochet doilies together for a wedding table runners. Made a change.
Tonight a cosy night at home with DGD and Christmas movies on the TV!!!When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
so it's Sunday. My one day away from the shop. Although I need to go in to collect some paper to print my price lists etc. I forgot to bring it home yesterday.
we have Christmas movies on the TV while I sort out the menu plan, shopping list etc and the laundry. We need to go shopping for yet another pair of new shoes for DGD and socks. The sock monster has been here again!
I would also like to see if I can get some foam to make a cushion pad to sit on at work as my chair is too low and it hurts my arm/neck working all day.
The rain has arrived, so back to autumnal clothing then!
Have a good day everyone. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
I know it is more expense, but have you thought of using in a height adjustable typing chair. You can then adjust it for different jobs, even having it quite high as a perch, it can also be easier to get out of as you can twirl round and stand up straight.0

I rarely have any luck with Freecycle around here. But could put a shout out. I will make do with the dense foam I bought today until I can find what I need. Thanks.
My chair adjusts but not high enough- alas.
Getting the foam was easy. Shopping at Asda for food, and clothing was meant to be easier then going from shop to shop! Never again on a Sunday. It was packed. We stood in the queue to pay for our shopping for over 30 minutes! Then the guy on the till was so slow it was a wonder he still had a job! Luckily I didn't have anything froZen, or it would have defrosted.
I also bought a child's mannequin on Facebook car boot sale.
So I have spent up now!
Frugal time for the rest of the month but at least DGD can go to school with a decent pair of boots on her feet, and new socks!
I have also bought a crafting magazine to make homemade Christmas decorations too.
I forgot again to get the Avon ladies money out ( also Christmas stuff! I will have to remember tomorrow!
My neck/arm are protesting, so I really do need to see the doctors soon. I will call at 8am and hope they can give me a slot without having to shut the shop. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
The foam pad, once cut with my electric carving knife, made some improvements with my neck, but not completely. I am finding myself tensing up my shoulders ( bit like in a shrug), when I'm concerntrating on my sewing. So a bad habit. I also have noticed that I type with my left hand all the time and that irritates my arm. So I must try and change.
Today was a busy day. I was on my own in the shop and so busy. Plenty of work on, more in.
But my biggest disruption was that the phone kept to I g with energy agencies trying to get me to have a contract else where. Dispite telling them I have a contract with eon, but they continue to say that I don't. When I do!!! Aggravating! 12 calls in two hours today!!!When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
The calls are still bothering me! My help fielded them today! I had a simple job sewing labels on caps! Well it was supposed to be simple, in the end it was a night mare of a job and it put me way behind. Tomorrow will be a busy day. I have several jobs that have to be done tomorrow, and then I am teaching the first lesson in a six week course. I have two people booked in and paid. Not as many as I would like, but at least there are enough machines and table space for them. I need to print off some paperwork but I left the laptop behind!
I finally got the thermal bag wrapped and posted. Another one to make.
Try to relax tonight as I am not going to get much spare time till Saturday now. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Morning, we are both up fairly early this morning. DGD is eating her breakfast early. It's usually a fight to get her to eat something vaguely breakfast like before it's time to leave for school.
Did I tell you she smothered herself, her hair in Vasaline on Sunday!! I've tried washing it with shampoo, I tired washing up liquid on Mondsy night! It's still not out. Yesterday was school photo day! So that picture will be around to tell the tale of a bathroom mishap for some time to come!
Another hair wash after breakfast is on the agenda!
I just remembered I forgot to put the bins out last night. Forgot what day of the week it was really. Yet another reminder that I need to put on my phone/laptop calendar to remind me. Being so busy lately, and my cleaner hadn't been for several weeks and the bits I am doing are not really enough. The house is beginning to look a bit neglected! So a better routine is needed other then washing up, and putting the laundry on! The hoovering seems to only get done if I spill polystyrene balls or if it's Sunday these days.
Time to get DGD wielding a duster or cloth about and help me.
When my lot were little we used to have a Saturday morning tidy up where everyone helped for an hour at 9am. Perhaps I need to do that here on the Sunday.
My Avon order came, Christmas table mats, chair backs and Santa salt and pepper pots! So I am finally thinking of Christmas!
DGD wants Minecraft boxes, Lego and a nurf gun!! Not exactly a girly girl is she! ( alas I won't buy a nurf gun- don't like guns)
What does granny want for Christmas? Everyone to be happy! When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
DS arrived when I was posting this morning. He asked if after work I could take his GF home as he had to go to work early. Didn't seem much of a problem as I was expecting to come home at noon. But yet another morning of constant interruptions by energy company brokers drove me up the wall. To be honest it stressed me out today. One so called lady actually lied to me telling me she was from Eon.
She also called me a liar when I said I had a contract and she insisted I didn't. I felt as if I was going mad. The stress reduced me to tears of frustration etc. I contacted eon, who assured me once again it was a legal contract, and it was not them who called me. They told me to go to the omnibudsman, but they could only give me a number to go on the register to stop nuisance calls.
I only had my phone line installed on Wednesday last week. This amount of unsolicited calls is rediculous. It put my working schedule completely out of the window, and to get today's earmarked jobs done, I was still at work at 3pm! Just getting to the school to pick DGD up in time.
The only good part of the day was a surprise flying visit from my mum and dad with some shoes and light bulbs for me.
DS and GF have been given two months notice to quit the flat by the landlady as she said it's not suitable for children on the farm. So we now need to try and find another place to rent. I don't and neither do they have any more money to pay for a deposit for a new place, and I only hope they get the deposit from her back, but I doubt it will be that easy as she has been a pain in the bum about everything.
Twin1's BF has failed his driving test, so that means his offer to collect twin 2 on the 13th is not possible, and I will need to help her with the train fair as I had originally said I would for her birthday.
It's their birthdays on the 19/11
I have ordered a Vax for twin1, not a very girly gift but her vac is useless and I saw a promotion so getting it for less then half price as the box is damaged.
Tonight I have two people coming for a lesson so have made sure the workroom is ready.
The "opposition" came knocking this afternoon, even though I was shut, she and a few others had a meeting last night, I was invited but couldn't go/ didn't really want to go. The so called support group want to get together every couple of months and make clothes for children in Africa, and they want to use my workshop on a Saturday. I said it would depend on my workshops I'm running. I really do not have the time at the moment to do any more charity makes, I'm already sewing for 50 plus hours a week!
The idea is nice, but I can't see me having the time. Lucky them to have time to play is all I can say. She wanted to know how busy I was, and could see all the work on the rail waiting to be done!
I've got to go out again in a few minutes to get something I bought on Facebook car boot, we need to take GF home, have dinner and get out again for 7pm! I think I will sleep well tonight. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Hello Mooloo! Try combing talcum powder through DGD's hair and then washing it out, it should remove all of the vaseline. Also, let me just say you are doing so well with your business, you have made a real go of this and you are amazing.
